How to FIX PS5 LAN Cable Keeps Disconnecting From Internet (Best Tutorial)

is there a physical difference in the cat8 cable head that makes it fit better than the cat5? because this is an ongoing issue with me i think i have a cat6

Unfortunately there is no way to fix this issue. It's a bug with its system. It has nothing to do with the LAN not being connected well enough. You either have to get a new PS5 or just stick with WIFI connection.

I tried the network advanced settings and now I constantly get error code CE-118527-4. And I cannot use the ps store…

Can I ask why cat-8? All websites say cat-6 are preferred.

December 2023:
Go into safe mode,
click on ‘Update System Software’
‘Update from Internet’
let it update.
I tried all this guys methods. besides the ones involving the actual cord. none worked, but the method ive given has fixed it. there was a 1.8g update on mine.. that apparently doesnt automatically update, hope this helps!

I've been having the disconnect and reconnect issue for months now. It showed up out of nowhere, about 15m of playing it just starts cycling disc and rec, I barely play on the thing. I will try forcing a better connection, but this is on sony.

none of that works I've tried everything. it'll be totally secure after wedging something in there to keep it on place, and still disconnects randomly when there's NO WAY it moved.

Weirdest part is all games work for me it only does it on Fortnite. Legit can’t finish a single match. Idk wtf is up.

These fixes can work, but it's usually the ethernet cable distorting from the heat if you're using wired LAN. The ethernet port on the original PS5 (I don't know about subsequent models) isn't very snug, and when the heat distorts the RJ45 connector, it pulls the contacts away and causes a disconnect/reconnect fault that people think is software, but it's not. I've replaced the cable on mine with a brand new one and the issue stopped until it, too, distorted from heat and I have the issue all over again. Sony didn't think very far ahead when they designed it - just the heat passing by the ethernet cable is ruining the cable itself.

Since yesterday i have the problem once i did this its all gone . Just try it guys. Nothing will be deleted just the settings.

Which LAN cable would u recommend to use for the PS5? also I have problem so I have my own room and my ps5 and tv are in my room while the router is in the living room. So I currently have bad fps and bad latency when playing online games because I have a wireless wifi connection.

So I'm wondering which internet cable to buy to fix the problem, my current router has the speed of 130 Mbps so I'm wondering which cable I should get.

And also how to I connect it? from the router to the PS5? or from the router to tv?

Like watching tv and using my phone and playing offline games on the PS5 works perfect,

The only issue I have is when playing Online games.

So any tips on how to fix the issue?

I stuck a tac on the opposite side of other Ethernet clip inside the ps5 and it worked try everything he says if that doesn’t work most likely it’s the port stick a tac in it, it worked for me!!!

PS5 I’m having so many issues. I have bought like 5 controllers so far and the LAN disconnect and it just turns off randomly

It’s been 3 month since I don’t have this issue but it came back.

I also have this issue for awhile and happens from time to time. I already replaced my network switch. But today i noticed the ports in the back are extremely hot. Like I can’t pull out the lan cable and touch it without burning my fingers.
I think I will need to see how to change the ps5 airflow or something and clean it from the inside maybe. This ps5 is not even 1 year old now.
I’m also using very sturdy cat-8 cables btw.

Set up internet and connect to LAN. When I'm done gaming now, I disconnect from the internet, forget LAN, turn off the ps5. I no longer have connection problem. If I don't disconnect and forget, the problem comes back the next time I turn on my ps5.

I know this sucks, but it works. I'm not working alot rn and game about 10 hours a day, and I no longer have issues as long as I do this. Also, I've tried all the other software ideas that are listed here and around the internet.

I'm pretty sure it's mainly all the heat at the back and ports shorting out the connection. Not much to do with that. PS5 is just too faulty glad my warranty is good sending back

I em weary disapointed with ps5 fills like undercooked product. And roblems with internet conection driving me crazy. I try to conect this to new modem isues starts after i reciwe new modem from my internet company also i will try new cables. But i think its ps5 hardwere problem.

Im having a bug where it says 10 times Lan cable connected - Lan cable disconnected every time a start the console. Since yesterday it even happened mid-game

My router and speed were perfect. Changed to manual helped before but reset of the cache was the last missing part.
P.S. in my safe mode was option #6 not option #5.

Never had this issue with Xbox series X. But I'm sure getting a lot of disconnections with the bloody ps5.

Okay you guys I figured it out I had my ps5 for 7 months brand new never dropped yanked nothing. The port is bad on these consoles I think they used a cheap part cause I got a new router and Ethernet cable from target and neither was the problem
