Very very nice video

Do you think the normal F flex is bouncy?
ОтветитьA man with pink pen 😁
ОтветитьHi thanks. I understand it fits the Jinhao X750 without any modifications but have you discovered any affordale FPR ultra-flex and feed combo that will with the Jinhao X750 or similar affordable pens?
Thank you.
God bless.
I’m quite new to this hobby. I need some advice: those pens seem nice but my issue is with ink flow. I normally use rather common paper which doesn’t necessarily mean bad quality but still not the best non-absorbent paper. Therefore i like fairly dry pens that allows me to not refill my pen too often when using a converter. Would you still suggest me to try this pen? How is the FPR flow compared to the Noodler’s Ahab regarding ink flow?
ОтветитьI have two. They are too wet under normal writing and it sometimes railroad while flexing. That is a feed issue. To be fair, the feed is the one of the hardest things to design an dmaintain quality control for a flex pen.
ОтветитьVery nice review!👍🏻
ОтветитьI really like the Himalaya-2 with the steel ultra-flex nib! My only slight issue with it is that, ideally, I prefer a wider, heavier pen body. Anyone know if FPR offers a significantly "bigger" pen with this nib? The Darjeeling and the Jaipur, at least from the stats on paper, seem just barely different in size from the Himalaya.
ОтветитьThat was pretty much useless.
No offence.
i'm facing issue of Railroading while writing with Ultra Flex Nib... how to rectify it?
ОтветитьI have 2 that are currently in a pen repair shop as they are absolute fire hoses. Person doing the work had his own pen shop in Melbourne in the city. He's now semi retired working on expensive vintage pens. I couldn't do anything with these pens out of the box. The problem in both cases seems to be with the feeds.
ОтветитьI love their nibs, BUT, both pens I have bought from them leak like sieves. The nibs fit well into the jinhao 750 though... the broad and stub are very nice too!
ОтветитьNice vedio
ОтветитьNotice you're getting a bit of rail road tracks with these. Even the demos at Fountain Pen Revolution do this. Everyone comments on how wet them pens write. I personally like a dryer pen and I think the Ebony makes it write wetter. I wonder how much dryer a plastic feed would be. I know you can get them from FPR..
ОтветитьI think the original flex version is more consistent even if not as flixable.
ОтветитьOh hey, fellow lefty! Nice handwriting :) Have you tried wrist/arm movement and found it to be better at all?
ОтветитьHi Mick. I have been watching your videos lately. They are very nice. For writing regularly with flex or super flex nibs, would you recommend these two pens ?
ОтветитьI just purchased the Himalaya with the ultra flex nib! I chose Taj Mahal white finish...Thanks for your review.
ОтветитьOMG! This is the kind of review I am looking for! I was thinking of buying an FPR Himalaya with Ultra flex nib, but was wondering if I can manage to use it given that I am a lefty. And I saw your video. I guess I can still use the pen even if I'm a lefty. Thank you!
ОтветитьIn my opinion the nib and feed should be larger. I have a fpr Indus with the ultra flex nib and the Pilot Custom heritage 912 with the fa nib. I like both. The Indus is less reliable than the Pilot so I don't use it as much. Using the Indus made me want to buy the Pilot. So now I am broke. I have explored a lot of fountain pens in 3 years.
Lots of different filling systems.
Favourite top 2 pens are a Jinhao X750 Shimmering Sands with a Bock 1.1 stub nib. Cartridge converter pen. Awesome smooth writer with the Bouncy Bock nib.
Pilot Custom heritage 912 with the fa nib. Cartridge converter pen.
Amazing flex.
All my other pens are gathering dust now apart from my made in England pens; Vintage Parker 51, Waterman's 515 and the really old Swan Mabie Todd.
Modern pens. You can't go wrong with Pilot.
Nice vid, been looking for more info from people about fpr's flex nib. Im looking for a #5 nib for my Eco TWSBI. I bought it with a fine nib but its a bit on the Medium side. So Im thinking of the FPR flex or ultra flex or else just get an Extra fin nib from Goulet pens.
ОтветитьWould you say this pen would be a better flex pen then the noodlers flex pens?
ОтветитьThank you for giving such great mention of FPR. They are a terrific company. It was through them, that I found a pen, that's really me. Gama Forever. I love it.
ОтветитьI just got my first FPR ultra flex and it's awesome! And Kevin is a great guy!
ОтветитьI have challenges with Ultra-Flex. Ink starvation too often. Takes a while for feed ro catch up & to be ready to write. Most of my experience with #5. WIll try some more. The flex is nice. Agree it's as good or better than current modern steel flex nibs and FPR is a great value.
ОтветитьThanks for the review Mick - I agree, FPR have some pretty good pens for a great price, and a few which... well... are probably not as great. I really like the Himalaya and Triveni pens; the Darjeelings are good value for the price.
ОтветитьI really enjoy some of the nibs I’ve got from FPR. And the huge eyedroppers they carry are outstanding. Great video!
ОтветитьThank you for this side by side comparison. I've been considering these nibs, but have not yet purchased one.
ОтветитьI’ve bought 2 FPR Jaipur demonstrators from massdrop, and have nothing positive to say about them. They both stink, the plastic feels cheap, cap band fell off after a couple of uses. For the stub one, it has a little bit line variation and works like a board rather than stub. The one with flex nib had flow issue, I cut the feed a few times to increase the flow, now it lays down a fine line with no problem, but still couldn’t keep up while flexing. At this price level, wingsung 698 looks and writes way better.
ОтветитьThank you Mick, for another very useful video! I've had mixed luck with FPR to say the least, but that orange Darjeeling pen looks delightfully retro & vintage for the price.
ОтветитьThe FPR website lists the nib size for the Himalaya as 5.5; is this the same size as a #5 nib?
