Positano: 6 Reasons NOT To Visit | Positano, Amalfi Coast Italy Travel Guide

I think the point of this video has been lost on some so just to clarify...we loved our time in Positano but I know not everyone will love it. This video is a resource for people researching whether it is the right destination for them.

We are headed there in October. Can’t wait.

In Florida these prices were in 2010. For me these prices are cheap.

We drove the first time.. couldn’t park anywhere of course.. but the thought of a bus makes me ill…. So next year, we’re coming in on a Seabourn cruise, with a small drive to Positano.. that’ll be enough.

Did positano in late June by ferry......waste of time ...overcrowded ...and a time limit on the return ferry....the same all along the amalfi coast.....capri was an overcrowded disaster....

I visited Positano on June 2023 and it was a very dissapointing experience. The views and architecture were amazing, but the crowds and the instagram culture definitely ruined my visit. It wasn't like that through the whole Amalfi coast, I enjoyed very much Minori and Vietri.

The Amalfi Coast was a normal and completely liveable place before the locals discovered how easy it was to pluck chickens like you, dazzling you with postcard images.

Emma, you are so critical on your comment about Positano and now you changed the title of your video. I am still amazed that you get sick or dizzy when you are a passenger. Take Drumamin. People who get car sick should not drive because you can kill people on the road! I know you may want to show off to Alex that you grew up in the U.S. till you were 12. We hired a driver for a day - didn’t cost the earth and it was a nice way to tour the area. You’d be mad to drive it yourself - don’t. Most of the points in this video are non-issues, though.

What is wrong with You? Renting a car on Amalfi coast? You didn't do your preparations well and now You are sharing video with reasons not to visit Positano?

I think the issue is. That people who travel expect whatever destinations they go to. To be like the place that they live. That's the magical thing about travel. You get to explore a different lifestyle you get to see people that don't look like you. and you come back to whatever your home space is with an appreciation for the way other people live.

I was there in July 2022 and I was disappointed with Positano. However I enjoyed everything else about the Almalfi coast.

I am thinking now again of doing this! ❤

Come on now!!! It is beautiful. However it is the most expensive resort in Italy and possibly the world. It's full of Americans, British and Canadians. We liked it. Yes there are a lot of people. We went to a very nice beach 5 minutes away. We really liked it. Though yes there are crowds and many day trippers. We liked staying on top of the hill. Good exercise walking down and up again. Not to be missed. Same for Amalfi, Sorrento, Ravello and Maratea and further south Trapani.

Go to Amalfi and Minori, much better, no posers. But Positano is stunning.
