Debating a PS5 for a few new games, or a MiSTer for thousands of games instantly
ОтветитьI wonder if this guy is somehow sponsored by MiSTer? Not one price comparison to PC emulation. I have been emulated ROMS since the late 90s on my Athlon 600-1.4 system and emulation on modern powerful (non ARM) cores is even more impresive. Someone who is tech savvy should NEVER have to spend a dollar on emulation unless if they want a plug and play sytem ready to go with minimal effort. Word of advice- the WWW and torrent software are your friend and ARM rocks for Chromebooks...
Ответитьill be playing the mister until the day I die then ill stop
ОтветитьCan you make mister video with all the add ons?
ОтветитьThat face when the "junk" you bought for university course work turns out to be more useful to all the emulation devices you bought since graduating ... 2024 retro gaming here I come.

Wow! No kidding?! Fuck you
The MiSTer is without a doubt one of the best electronic things I have bought in my life. I bought half a year ago and it is absolutely fantastic and worth every cent. I have it hooked up to my 83 inch OLED and it looks stunning. I am a person who also cares a great deal about audio quality so I use the SPDIF output on my MiSTER and got it connected to my Technics SACD player which also has an SPDIF input. The internal DAC is truly amazing and the sound coming out of the MiSTer is perfect. I think video is just as important as audio.
ОтветитьBest gaming purchase I’ve made in a very long time…love how I can just connect it onto any modern display and it looks fantastic and then when the mood takes easily hook it up to one of my vintage consumer CRTs for the authentic experience
ОтветитьNa - used an old laptop and emulation and it did all this for a fraction of the cost.
ОтветитьI have mister, rgb-pi and coinopps, i prefer rgb-pi for crt.
ОтветитьCan you use a lightgun with a vga monitor via mister?
Also what are the savestates like? I'm told they're quite limited in number but that was a year or so ago and I'll need loads for playing shmups
Please someone explain to me does mister FPGA emulate 100% like original hardware ??
ОтветитьThere are possible polyphony issues with sound effects in Starfox 64 (ring acquisition sound effect) and Mario Kart 64 (invincibility sound effect). I'm testing my real N64 against a friend's MiSTer. Despite that, the MiSTer is VERY impressive! The way textures render seems to be 1:1 from what I can tell. I'll be getting one for sure. Thanks for the channel updates with this device!!
ОтветитьIf they worked with retroachievements, Id get one. Thats a fun community over there, seeing whos playing obscure old stuff alongside you.
ОтветитьI bought a de-10 Nano for about $125 off Amazon during the pandemic which wasn't that long ago so it makes me sick how much the prices of these have gone up. Would I buy one today at the current prices if I didn't have one? The answer is yes of course. However what I can't do anymore is buy one as gifts.. If it was still about $240 total for everything then it would be something possible. For $500+ now though, it's just too much.
ОтветитьI love my Mister. I had a stack system and later upgraded to the Mister multisystem from Haber. The development of Saturn, PSX and N64 cores have taken this way past what I wanted from the system. My original reason for the mister was for the SNES and Amiga cores, now I have NeoGeo, pc engine, nes, sega cd and 32x. All systems I wanted as a kid but could never afford. As you said in your video though that is just scratching the surface.
ОтветитьNice video. But one thing you haven't told ist that all of this is piracy except you own all the boards, games etc...
So yeah it's cheaper but the only real legal way to play all this stuff that isn't ported to another current platform, is to buy those expensive cartridges or arcade boards, etc...
Would love to see Sin and Punishment played with a mouse 😊
ОтветитьI was ready to buy an N64 right before Robert announced his plans for the core. Very glad I didn't. Get a MiSTer. Save the original hardware for the collectors/preservation.
ОтветитьI have the GunCom 3 but currently my new 55” QLED is too thin for the sensors so I have to figure something out. Also need to remount the sensor bars for the Wii and Wii U. Also, the the mount I had for my Xbox 360 camera and PS3 camera won’t fit on this TV. Only thing that wants to sit up there is the PlayStation 4 camera.
ОтветитьIf you're already emulating, why not just go software? Obviously that'll be the best for your wallet, so the cost-saving argument is pretty null.
ОтветитьI’ve debated on getting a second mister, I have the analogue single ram one. Do you think my second one should be digital dual ram version? Or another analogue
ОтветитьRather than spend the $$$ on another MISTer, get a TATE set-up. TCL TV's can be rotated any direction without damage. My 50'' TV cost $350 new and delivered. The stand cost $40, the fitting cost $80.
ОтветитьI have one.. but put it away for 6 months and the USB hub died.. really frustrating.
ОтветитьIf you're out there and you're on the fence about this, get it. I'm someone who does not splurge on personal items, and this was so worth it. It continues to be more worth it by the day, as people keep releasing cores. ❤
ОтветитьMy misterfpga, three years now, I play it almost everyday on my 21' trinitron. Best purchase in gaming ever!
ОтветитьHeard any news about the Apple IIGS core on MiSTer? I thought I heard a year or two ago someone was working on it.
ОтветитьWould love to see a video on the RetroTink 4k in use with the MiSTer, your videos are brilliant! Hope you have a great 2024
ОтветитьSo you are just going to flex on everybody with Garou: MOTW CIB? I don’t remember if you ever showed us that before. What an S-Tier game. 😮💨
ОтветитьIf Mister was a woman she'd be a fine piece of ass
ОтветитьCould a Steam Deck do all of this?
ОтветитьGoing on 5 years with my MiSTer. With MARS coming, I may turn my Mister into a more computer centric platform to work with my VGA monitor.
Ответить"a hundred and change arcade cores"? I don't know how many rbf files there are (a "core"), but so far as how many arcade games are available, after a first/fresh update_all... there are well over 1,000. I haven't counted recently but I think it might be approaching 1,400.
ОтветитьI would love to pick one up but the price is still a bit too high given how easy it is to do software emulation these days.
However, I do have an older tube TV w/ component connections and if it's possible to get the MiSTer working on that thing that'd be pretty awesome (I'm not sure how possible that is, I didn't do enough research yet...).
What's the main advantage of mister Fpga over a emuelec tv box with a good hardware?
Ответить"Why you need one" I already have one. "Or a second one" Okay, but my wife's not gonna be happy..
ОтветитьOnly a second? Pft, let's get a third.
Because I don't regret my poor decisions enough. ಠ_ಠ
Oh yeah and then I got two ironclad boards because WHY NOT. >__<
Granted that's because the latest revision massively improved their MT32 pi integration. But still. T_T
I'm just glad the price is going to plummet with competition hitting the market
ОтветитьIf I had a RGB capable monitor I would totally get a mister. As it stands, the analogue pocket on the dock is scratching my FPGA itch for now.
ОтветитьNot only can original hardware be expensive when you factor in getting quality connection cables, original controllers, power supplies, accessories, modifications and paying a tech to maintain or restore your consoles to working condition, they were also not necessarily made to last over such long time periods. After all, these devices are consumer electronics specifically made to the lowest possible and most affordable price points up to about 40 years ago, where as the DE-10 nano, as far as I understand, is made with industrial applications in mind, being made to be both very robust and able to withstand high temperatures without active cooling requirements.
Even back when these consoles where new I still remember friends having issues with their PS1 disc lasers failing, or a PS2 eating a disc and not wanting to open the disc drive anymore, or other hardware failures requiring repairs or even entire console replacements.
It also becomes even more costly if you want to play both PAL and NTSC region games and wanting them to run at their correct clock frequency, which would only be possible by owning and playing the PAL and NTSC games on their same region consoles, with space then also becoming a concern if you want to own a wider range of various consoles.
As time goes on I hope that more people will come to understand the tremendous value of FPGA emulation, as we will eventually reach a point where original consoles might not be readily available in working condition anymore, where devices such as the Mister and the Analogue products do an amazing job at faithfully preserving a range of various different console and arcade systems while adding additional features and much extended flexibility.
When are you going to cover Groovy MiSTer?
ОтветитьYou did forget the shopping links for the DE-10 Nano by the way XD
ОтветитьOne thing missing here, for the budget conscious retro gamer is answering the “what about a raspberry pi (or whatever)?” question.
ОтветитьI managed to get a de10 nano for free. Bought the rest from mister addons. Also recomend upgrading the micro sd card. The stock one that comes with the nano isnt very good.
ОтветитьMine is out for delivery today, exciting stuff...
ОтветитьNo need to convince me! My MiSTer is the best investment I've ever made in retro gaming in my entire life. It has been a game changer for me and I spend more time with my MiSTer these days than any other gaming device.
ОтветитьAbsolutely love my MiSTer! 😍
With a fully loaded 1TB SD Card along with my MT32-Pi and tty2oled, I'm in retro heaven and use my MiSTer system more than all my previous and current gen consoles all put together! 😎
I love my MiSTer system that much that I own three of them! 😅
I've tried several emulation setups (Pi, Odroid, Pandora's Boxes and MAME PC's) and nothing compares to Mister for retro gaming. Best bit of tech I've ever bought!
ОтветитьTime for a second for a second room… way ahead of you brother.
