Why canada is not making it easier for skilled people to get PR. I believe authorities know that these skilled people will land here, get their passports and move to other good countries. So, it is short term way to fill skill shortage but canada wants people to live here for a longer period of time. For this purpose, those displaced and desperate people are the best source to bring in to have people for longer period of times.

In the meantime, Canada and USA reach an agreement. Asylum seekers travelling from USA into Canada (including informal border crossings) will be returned to USA immediately with some exceptions. They will need to try their luck in USA side.
