Great Place To Level Up Security Lockpicking In Starfield (8+ Locks 1 Location)

I assume no one in the bank sees these open locks and relocks them? ;) I.e. these don't reset, do they?

Last time I went to Akilla my game crashed about 20 times before I got through the quest there . Never going back .

So if you build a ship with decent storage, I used about 4k. You can literally just pick a random system
Go from outside to inside planets, including every moon, scan it and just pass throug everything showing on scans, pirate outposts, research facilities etc
You get 3-8 locks per each facility

I looked up lock locations and almost every video showed how to unlock tutorials. I learned how easily. Its finding 5, 15, then 30 locks that I need. Worse is I wasn't checking progress and realized my game bugged. This morning I looked at progress and it showed only 4 locks have been unlocked! This is after unlocking mamy atm locks btw! Was having so much fun I never looked at my progress. I know I unlocked easily 10 locks. Every atm in atlantis, the cargo hold behind your ship where you first land in atlantis. When you go to enter the subway-transit pod thingy to go to each district there were atm kiosks in front of it. There are always like 4 at each and I unlocked 8 within 10min. I then thought maybe only specific locks work for progress!? So aggravated. I watched a best start guide and nope every lock that needs a digipick counts. So my game bugged! Lesson learned here is I check progress now soon as I unlock a safe. 5 challenge, then 15 was easy. I just went to those atms by the train transit thingy and it shows empty, meaning its still unlocked. I just noticed this this morning while doing early faction mission. Join constellation, sarah joins you, you go meet her acquaintance and he asks you to join their services, to then going to simulator. After you join he gives you probationary mission. You gotta kill a alien bug and this was fun btw. I found 3 safes doing this quest. After killing alien bug you follow npc after giving her alien bug sample. Go down a floor following npc to run diagnostic on sample. Close by where she inputs the data was another safe! I unlocked this and this is when I realize I only had 4 of 15 unlocked in progress bar! So pissed. I reloaded and redid last one as I don't wanna play that far back! Sure enough now I have 5 unlocked. So now I am looking where any locks are and this helped. It sucks cause I should be on the 30 unlock challenge! I know where 10 are as we speak but this will just give me rank 3 and then I gotta find 30 more! Bank atm kiosks comes in 4's and there are always 2 or sometimes more equaling an easy 8 locks or so! Neon, atlantis had over many between them. I just checked neon just now actually. Shows empty! Meaning I already unlocked them. These will not reset btw! 7 were unlocked already and Im at 5 due to a bug! Well lesson learned. I'm checking progress now everytime I unlock anything! I quick save now right before trying to unlock anything!

idk if its random but in the wolf system, on the planet thats not the den theres an abdandoned industrial compound

All you have to do is have level 1 stealth skill, then crouch and stay hidden and unlock everything without getting a bounty. The locks aren’t that difficult so it’s a great place to upgrade the security skill.

I found 3 master locks in a level 5 dungeon, I was so fucking mad that I left, sold all of my shit and went searching for places to level up.

Hers the problem, no novice locks to even get started. I found several at the start but once you actually get credit for lockpicking by spending a point you need to find novice locks and I can't find any and yet in the beginning areas that should not be a problem. Every guide I have see they are already on level 3.

You can also pick all the ATMs in New Atlantis once you have advanced unlocked. Super useful. If your sneaky enough, you won’t even get a bounty for messing with the locks either.

Is there a good place with a lot of locks that aren't marked as stealing?

the only reason they put the number of time you do stuff on top of skill point system is just time gate. to make you aftificially spend more time in the game instead of leveling and unlock stuff.

New lockpicking is completely unsatisfying

The vanguard simulator debug mode can be hacked repeatedly.

Theres also 8 in new atlantis
4 next to gil bank and 4 in spaceport next to the transit.

Another location is to advance the UC Vanguard Questline until you reach Sub Level Seven in the UC Building and there are also several locked doors you can attempt, albiet with guards watching it is not exactly smooth sailing so quick save first.

you can also get 4 by hacking the atms in that same building. So, 12 in total. You just have to be okay with killing the vendor

Doesnt work if you are less than level 2. They are expert locks so at lvl 1 you cant do this.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! Let us know if you find any others. I feel like getting Security to lvl 3 is the top priority for exploration. BTW I just did a random kiosk mission at an abandoned UC listening post and there were like 5 locks in there.
