The Pianist was altogether an amazingly good movie. The performers of Chopin's pieces were brilliant.

According to this Nazi officer’s military discipline, the pianist is doomed to be shot, and the Nazi was preparing to do so, as of his duty. However, his conscience/conscious was recalled and awakened him without but the nocturne of Chopin. It was that The powerful notes knocked out the discipline of Nazi’s teachings.

The whole Ballade is about 8-9 minutes long depending on tempo. They had to cut the length for cintematic purposes, but im really glad they at least included the notoriously difficult coda.

That was a real man. He was a Hauptmann (Captain), and his name was Wilm Hosenfeld. He expressed in his diaries the horror of the extermination of the Jewish people, and during the war would discover Władysław Szpilman (the pianist in this film, it was a true story), and give him refuge. It is also estimated he saved at least 1 anti-Nazi German, and befriended several poles, even trying to learn their language and attending several masses in Polish churches. He would later be captured by the Red Army, and would die in captivity in 1952.

Hosenfel's calm and firm face reveals the profound anger and agony for the misery of the pianist who deserves the honour and love of all for being one of the greatest and finest artists of the world. The calm face also shows the determination to punish himself for being the cause of misery of humanity. The last scene of the movie proves this.
