I'm planning to take civil engineering on college. Would anyone recommend the ipad pro or macbook pro? Help me to decide. Especially, for engineering things.

I don't understand why you wouldn't use apps on ipad instead of the browser if it enhances the experience? Also, video chat without using a case/stand?

To get all websites to function as desktop version:

Settings>Safari>Request Desktop Website> Toggle “All websites”

I wish it could replace my computer but there are several programs you can't run on iOS (SPSS, NVivo, EndNote reliably, etc.). I am on my 4th iPad though just for fun!

Tim I have the smaller Ipad Pro 2019. Two items I cannot do without are the Logitech Slim Folio Pro case with keyboard (P/N 820-008946) and the Logitech MX Anywhere mouse (P/N 810-005871). First of all the two of them together will cost you less than half of the Apple keyboard alone . If you add the Apple mouse pad to the Apple KB you are going to spend a wad. The Logitech keyboard works great for writing in foreign languages which I do every day. Like the Mac most of the key combinations for special characters allow you to add things like Cº.The keyboard and mouse combination help you keep your screen fingerprint proof because you do not need to tap on the screen for anything. Both are bluetooth devices and go for weeks without ever needing a charge. I bought mine at Best Buy but you can find them anywhere. One note about the keyboard though. The rubber cleats that hold the pad on the four corners are thick and hard to flex, making it hard to do the on/off+volume button combination needed to make a screenshot. The work around is to sweep up diagonally from the lower L/H or R/H corner to the middle and it does the screen shot. I do it with the Apple pencil (another important no smudge tool!).

I use the Hyper dongle that gives you USB slots, HDMI and flow through charging.

A MacBook cannot replace an iPad.

Does it run flash? I need to replace my mbp and debating between the 2020 iPad Pro or a new mbp and flash is on my list of needs

You will have a very different impression when you get the magic keyboard. I've had the combo for about a week. I find it pretty acceptable, but there is still a few things I miss from MacBook Pro functionality. BTW - That is a very good comment/recommendation about changing the placement of the camera.

Can this ipad pro 2020 be used for hardcore programming or download software from safari or chrome, such as java or eclipse or download other software, if not, its far from being a laptop. I always see ipad pro as an entertaining device.

Great video Tim but you are not a seasoned enough iPad user to really take advantage of all it's features. There is a difference in replacing your laptop with your iPad vs using your iPad as your laptop replacement.

As long as an device only runs app’s instead of full blown programs, it’s not a computer replacement

I have been using my iPad Pro for 2 years, I’m a student and it’s amazing for me, for students is better than a MacBook or a windows pc because you can scan, write as a notebook, keynotes, etc

I’ve been using it for programming, writing, and drawing. It was challenging to start with but I still love it and it is just a step up in technology. a few years from now laptops will end up having the similar issues anyways. That’s how it’s been for the past few years
