This mechanic was covered and explained by Rocket Science over 2 years back though. Did people only start noticing after Zap started doing it everywhere? :p ''Landing wavedash'' or ''landing wavedash after speedflip''.

i did the speedflip but dashed backwards, could that possibly used for a speedflip flick and then catch with a backwards dash?

If you were to just land normally and not speed flip would the zap dash be faster than a normal wave dash or just same?

Ive been secretly doing this minus the speed flip and been calling it bolt tackle funny part is doing the dash part but instead of foward dash do a reverse and its what i call wheel lock

Not to ruin the "new thing" azapatos never made the zap dash it been a thing that freestylers used but did not have a name for it.

i get my front end to pop consistantly but i dont get the flip back to wavedash any idea why?

its so fucking retardedly inconsistent i cant be bothered when i jump he sometimes jumps too fucking high up and sometimes he just jumps on 2 wheels which makes my car uneven in air and i dont fucking know man its so fucking stupidly inconsistent bullshit

Great another mandatory speed flip mechanic that takes me couple hundreds hours to master.

This is just an old mechanic that has been brought to light once again, actually it has been in the light the entire time but only noflipers have been using it.
I'm still surprised by how little most competitive players know about the mechanical progress in the last few years.
Especially when it comes to dashes.

This mechanic has existed for years under the name "sonic flip".
Perhaps now that they're being employed in speedflips the appropriate name is sonic speedflip.

It gets a lot easier to get the dash after the speedflip if you focus on hitting both front wheels on the ground at the same time and let go of the left stick before jumping again

You can jump before all 4 tires hit the ground?

You have to empty both jumps when practicing this mechanic or you will get a false sense of correctly doing it when you’re only doing it because you still have a jump available.

Don’t believe me? Try it and see how much harder it is when you empty both jumps.

Think of this mechanic being used when you’re recovering from a high aerial challenge - you don’t have a jump available and if you did, why wouldn’t you just do a normal front wave dash

donkey dash was created by jack as a joke name, he literally says its a joke the real name is zap dash

So this might be a stupid question, but I'm a bit confused. I can do the speed flip, just need to change it a little to point the nose down. But I'm focused after that - when the 2 front wheels touches the ground, does that give you your first jump and flip back?

Zapdash is the correct term.

Its not new. its been around for years just no-one used it.

May be an unpopular opinion, but I think the mechanic is overrated, I mean you drive a long distance just in one direction which most of the times is not the best thing to do.. I might be wrong, that's to be seen in the future I guess ✌🏼

Watch the most recent RLCS major. AppJack has fully incorporated this into his playstyle.

Pretty sure he calls it a donkey dash.
