O.o It was his last dive because he didn't want to dive anymore. He faked his death. Just Kittens. Astral Realms 💀👻 RIP FH.

Tragic for this to happen to him but it just seems like the equipment he was using, the vital equipment to get the body were not well thought out. The scissors were extremely difficult to open, the bag was too light so it would float around, one hand seemed to be always holding a light so he essentially had one hand only to do all difficult work, it’s just seems like an impossible task with the items he was using???

Heard a rumor that the first thing that went wrong was that the head became detached from the body and floated away as he was trying to bag up the body.

I read his head floated off but i didn't see that

If the body came loose, he should have gone back up and waited to see how far it would get

Are there not any helmet flashlights? I'd be going down with a lot more light than that

You can't even get me on a roller-coaster anymore. There are too many tragic accidents.

Why would you try and put a body in a bag at 900 feet deep and every second counts. PLUS wtf did he NOT HAVE A DIVERS KNIFE on his lower leg?

I had no idea that diving to that depth was like jogging. Is that still true with today's technology?

I think they should have atleast 2 divers close to each other on the bottom, 1 for the retrieval and another one would be like a backup if everything gone wrong to the first diver or the one to tell if they needed to come back up

I just can't understand how he deployed his tank so quickly. I know that since he's working hard to get the body in the bag and also untangle himself he used it faster and all but still from the average 45 minutes the air tank he lasted 10 minutes only. What a tragedy. Rip Shawn.

Poor guy. But i dont get the faffing about with a home made bag to put the body in. Professional Police divers dont put bodies into bags until theyve been bought to the surface. Even if its falling apart, which it did, surely you bring up what you can & do a 2nd trip, rather than risk too long at that depth.

There should always be a pair of divers when retrieving a body. In case of terrible terrible tragedies like this.

But why did he die so quickly? I dont understand, he had oxygen for hours

So how did he die? Did he run out of oxygen while trying to free himself?

I don't get it. He went down no problem, did his stuff, went up and somehow got stuck ? How ?

I've seen two different videos of this, and I still don't yet fully understand what went wrong down there. I understand his torch got tangled with his guide line, but still don't get why this proved to be fatal.

I m a dive master ns there is no way I would ever want to dive into a pitch black cave. I love the ocean-blue -colors and sunlight.

There is nothing heroic or intelligent about risking your life to pull a carcass from a cave it's just arrogant and stupid

Dave felt such a connection that he wanted to go do a body recovery and paid the ultimate price. It’s very sad but at least in the end both families got to say goodbye bc they did both return to the surface thanks to Dave

Was it necessary to use a cumbersome bag at that depth? Couldn't they just have loped a string round the ankle and pulled the stiff up to a safer depth before starting to mess with a bag?

It goes to show how insanely treacherous diving gets when you are that deep underwater. The pressure is so high that a "simple" act of trying to untangle yourself can kill you.

I don’t understand how this was all so rushed and it had to happen so quickly? Was it really like 10 minutes down to the body then he had a couple of minutes to get the body then he ran out of time? Surely divers usually go down for hours?

Unsure how to feel for people who do crazy shit for thrills!!

Navy diver in Vietnam. It's 90% of what we did. Why the need for a bag? Just grab hold & bring him up. We had zero visibility at all times. No flashlights. Heavy silt. Couldn't see if we had a flash.

Just sent a rover or a small sub down there wtf are these idiots doing
