Yaaaaiiii! Love this!
ОтветитьI'd cut the top driver off at 5 khz with a second order low pass filter and add a 3/8 inch poly tweeter cut in at 5 khz. The HF roller-coaster response starting at 5 khz really takes away from this speaker.
ОтветитьI guess, while that wide band driver might be less detailed than any decent tweeter it most likely would have much better midrange resolution than any 8" midbass driver.
Ответитьlove ur stuff Danny Thank you!!
ОтветитьI think all these people that send in speakers should just not waste their time and money and just build gr-research speakers! So pleased with my av3's!
ОтветитьI always wondered what you would find with a BMR type driver and in particular this model of speaker
ОтветитьWhen GR drivers going to be available in India? We get mark audio, tang bang via online diy shop. Will GR consider it?
ОтветитьA bit of a difference for a change. Interesting.
ОтветитьBalanced Mode Resonator.
ОтветитьI have seen people putting hotglue on the (thin) stamped steel woofer frame. (make sure the surface is clean before applying) Heavy foam/felt tape may work too.
ОтветитьWOW, it's a box!!
ОтветитьIt might be a good idea to use an active crossover on such a low crossover point. You could gain both additional sensitivity and even crossover accuracy, especially since a crossover is inside the vocal region.
ОтветитьI'd just leave this speaker alone. It was built to a budget and its not leaving a lot of performance on the table and is likely paired with equipment that is also budget. They are a good starter set.
ОтветитьIf this is true, then why do the 6" paper drivers in my car running full range have such extension and speed in the high frequency and thumping bass?
ОтветитьLooks like a Peerless SDS woofer with a slightly different face frame
ОтветитьSensei, are you back in the gym? I see some guns starting to show! Thanks again!
ОтветитьI have experience with BMR drivers and they sound great.....Thanks for the excellent video on my speakers....They were a good deal and the upgrade 1 will push them up enough for my taste and setup......Im waiting for the tube connectors to complete my upgrade order.....let me know
ОтветитьActually quite an impressive little design. One might select a full range driver for smoothness with little regard to bass extension, then select a sub woofer to match. One might get away with a 1st order Xover for both if you match drivers well enough. Honestly, I doubt this could be done without crossing over in the vocal region, but I guess anything's possible.
IMO, the choppiness above 5KHz is the deal buster for this kind of design. I'd have passed on that driver and kept looking for something smoother. It took me about 10 minutes to find a good $50 4" Markaudio candidate on Madisound. Possibly needing a gentle notch filter between 8-17KHz. But otherwise real smooth throughout. But it's taking me significantly longer to find a suitable 2" or 3" driver.
It's actually Saturday not Tuesday 😅
ОтветитьDid you give them a listen? It would be nice to know your impressions of a BMR driver...
ОтветитьWhat if I just used 7 lgk 2.0s per speaker? And had a really sleek narrow cabinet....
ОтветитьLook pretty good for nearfield, specially people living match box apartment which is common in Asia.
ОтветитьWow. Learned a lot. Thank you
ОтветитьWow.good job almost a waste your time ..😦
ОтветитьYou didnt reply my email ,
ОтветитьCheck the Q Accoutics Q Active 200 and Q Active 400........They are active Speakers but uses BMR Drivers......Interesting design
ОтветитьAlright Danny
ОтветитьMultifocal lenses could make your life a lot easier.
ОтветитьSo just to clarify, upgrading the speakers to better crossover parts will increase the detail, even though they measure exactly the same after the upgrade? Does this mean there’s no way show through measurements how detailed a speaker might be?
ОтветитьIs this speaker phase coherent?
ОтветитьWhats the pros and cons between high vs low sensitivity speakers? Other than how easy/difficult to drive them?
ОтветитьThis pair has been discontinued for years now, which is why it’s so cheap. I think it retailed for $750 back in 2012?
I have this pair with the Azur 851A, sounds great to me with an exceptionally large soundstage. I upgraded from $180/pair bookshelf speakers and was pretty happy. Probably won’t go to a more expensive set until I get a house, lol.
please do a tear down/components evaluation of the Elac Uni-Fi 2.0’s. i’m EXTREMELY interested in what your thoughts on their crossover would be.
*EDIT: i would gladly send you my pair for evaluation!
Taco Tuesday, Yum!
ОтветитьI'm enjoying these videos because I feel like I'm getting an education! It's rare to find this level of analysis on anything, let alone speakers.
ОтветитьCambridge Audio makes very solid value stuff. I was surprised at how good my old-ish Cambridge Audio S70 sounds compared to the many speakers I’ve rolled in and out… some very popular.
ОтветитьCambridge Audio makes fantastic inexpensive gear
