I would say you need math the most if you're in Data Science, AI developer.
But for web development or things like that you dont need it.
Ofcourse its all depends of which industry you're working in.
I feel like all of the myths are low key right
ОтветитьAdvanced math is not needed for web development, but it is needed for computer science and particular domains of computer science like artificial intelligence, augmented reality/virtual reality development, backend development with data structures and algorithms (basic math and logic), critical systems programming (aerospace would require math, geometry, physics), graphics engines (math, geometry, physics), game development, statistical programming (heavy math).
To say math isn't needed is deceptive at both ends outside of the domains that don't need it, I don't think you've worked in domains that do require a strong grasp of it. On one hand we have math libraries that extract much of the mathematical labor performing calculations, in those instances math is still required but we have a process to simplify the functionality and get the results while reducing tedious overhead through manually calculating things. It would still be a needed tool and you would at least need to know how to use it though, but that aspect can be reduced to strong logic and analytical thinking per the work performed.
In other cases the math and science components are more deeply embedded into a system or domain where it's not only needed, but you may not have math libraries to perform everything out of the box for you. In that case it would be required and a needed skill to actively perform on the job. It varies with each domain as for what type of math would be needed, the minimum would be boolean algebra and sequential logic (plus pattern recognition). The math can vary between basic algebra, discrete mathematics, linear algebra, statistics and probability, etc. in the upper level complexity domains. In the simplest sense it's still deceptive to say "you don't need math to code" even if basic algebra is what's needed in the easier domains, since it's still math and computer code always boils down to numbers at the end of the day.
The real answer is it depends on what domain you're working in and the complexity of those domains and particular projects will determine the exact types and levels of math skills needed to excel in those areas. Math also trains logic which is necessary in coding, so come on man, give math a little more credit! wink wink ;)
The knowledge and tool set required for each domain are very heavily dependent on what's being developed and the nature of it. There are some domains that you simply cannot excel in without a solid math foundation and some even require physics and geometry knowledge. The rest of the list is pretty solid, PHP has some strong legacy domains but it's definitely declining and is not as reputable as several competing backend languages.
what about JS, ReactJS,and NextJS>
ОтветитьMath is important in coding, that’s no myth. But not always
Ответитьc++ no but maybe C is a must learn language
ОтветитьPHP is indeed ded, you need maths to be considered programmer lmfaoo
ОтветитьWell i hate math and bcs od that i cant even create very very simpliest functions when it comes to numbers...
ОтветитьHey Unkel Steff. That was useful!
ОтветитьSo you don't need math?... how else would I have implemented any of my robot control algorithms without being able to derive their inverse kinematics?
ОтветитьWill AI kill the majority of coding jobs in 3+ years? How will it affect coding pay?
Ответитьso true
ОтветитьMyth number 6, React is the bestest thing ever
ОтветитьI got into coding 4 years ago, and today I’m seriously thinking of leaving the industry and find something else to make money…
ОтветитьHey man im currently learning python and I want to be mentored by you cuz ur fire
ОтветитьHey man im currently learning python and I want to be mentored by you cuz ur fire
ОтветитьWell, math is actually important in coding
Ответитьyou always give me hope most especially in php , I am writing php currently i am getting along well with it
ОтветитьThanks. Love it.
ОтветитьSome of the worst myths: it's all about self-expression and creativity (it really isn't), it's always well-paid (it's not), it involves stimulating the brain cells and solving interesting problems (not usually). There's more money to be made in selling coding courses than doing actual coding in the real world.
Ответитьfrom my experience:
1. math rarely has relations with coding, but if you're a problem solver average math skill come with it
2. you can start by knowing any language, focus on problem solving, and if you can code and solve the problem in python you are a few google searches away from writing it in c++
3. "php is dead" are saying new kids who wrote TODO app in node, rust or what not
4. this is debutable, from my experience so far AI is good when a context is a single function, small part of a code, and its good as "advisor", but i dont worry it will take over my job... yet
5. don't have a college degree, on technical interviews i noticed they weigh more experience and problem solving than diploma
Music to my ears. I'll just pretend you said Java instead of PHP 😁
ОтветитьIs ANSI C a crucial tool for web developers in 2023
Ответитьyes uncle stef
ОтветитьGenerally I agree with all 5 myths, but you should know at least basic math/algebra, or you'll have a harder time. e.g. order of operations, how to solve for X, a little Boolean algebra, etc..
ОтветитьThank you sir for your helpful information, can throw more light why c++ is a must learn lenguage?
ОтветитьHi Uncle Stef. You look ready to rap some bars with that hoodie💯💥
ОтветитьThank you very much for your guidance
ОтветитьYour videos are always so informative and well-presented. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!🚀😎
