These are the types of conversations I’d love to have with people so I appreciate your take. I do all types of art including sewing and making custom 1-of-1 pieces. I’ve been meaning to get into whittling too eventually 😂

After reading a couple comments under this video , the fan base you have is one of the more intellectual on the platform. I love fashion and I somewhat agree however after reading some different perspectives and opinions I would argue cinema and or games are the most broadest form and two categories of art that cover nearly every aspect of art itself. While I myself am the biggest fan of fashion as an art form. Painting to me requires a level of skill and creativity that fashion does not rival even remotely. Simply do to the infinite possibilities that one can create on a blank canvas. Fashion is becoming extremely popular however I do feel as if the highest level of fashion is still very niche and most people who do enjoy it do not get pass the surface level of it.

This has started a really interesting debate. If we were to define greatest as the ability to create emotion, a large extensive process in creating the art, then I would have to say for me it would have to be cinema. Cinema is so engrained in society that I think it’s often overlooked.

From my perspective film is the best medium for art because it encompasses many other forms of art while and conveys more information then any other art

I'm not sure fashion is the greatest form of art, I like the observations but personally wouldn't elevate clothing to no 1 above other art forms. It's certainly an interesting and often very complex process to visualise, manufacture and then wear essentially an idea. Fashion can say and do many things but equally has many limitations as in it needs to be worn, it largely needs to be made of fabric, it needs to be able to be cleaned etc. A fashion show often pulls in many other elements, music, lighting, atmosphere etc, which give the clothes more context, more drama, more more. Most people wear clothes yes and so maybe everyone should find fashion interesting, relevant to themselves, exciting etc but I think he disconnect is that (sweeping I know) the shows focus on the look of the worn garment whereas most consumers (I guess) also consider or indeed prioritise the practicality, is it warm, will it keep me dry, will it be comfortable etc. Hummm interesting, I like your ideas very much, thank you for sharing.

Something that is mass-produced can't be art, by definition. That's why a piece of art can sell for 500 million, but mass-produced pants or shirts won't.

I’d say 1-Cinema 2-Fashion 3-Music

The way I see it, every art form has different strengths, and you could rank each art form based on which areas they are strong in. For instance off the top of my head, the categories could include: Self expression, aesthetics, cultural/social commentary, abstract meaning, storytelling, emotion.

there could be more but based on this, you could say that fashion is no.1 for self expression, fairly high for aesthetics, and social commentary, but weaker in emotiveness and storytelling. Whereas Cinema is high in storytelling, emotiveness and social commentary but weaker in abstract meaning and self expression. Or Painting is high in abstract meaning, self expression and social commentary but weaker in storytelling.

Not saying that fashion can't tell stories at all, or that cinema can't have self expression, but I just mean thats what the medium is geared most toward portraying. So it's "easier" to create fashion that is aesthetically beautiful but its easier to create a film that tells a story.

Fashion is THE most practical art, other than architecture, which is not practiced by many. Everyone needs to wear clothes and they have a strong effect on how you're perceived.
Although when you get too deep into fashion, and this channel is mostly for those people, it becomes impractical.

The purpose of this video isn't to actually prove why fashion is objectively the greatest form of art, obviously art is subjective and I say at the end that fashion is objectively the best and worst. I just want to highlight fashion as an art form as it's most often overlooked as utilitarian, and also highlight the process behind it that people may not have been aware of. This is a video I would have liked to have seen when I was younger so that's its purpose. Not a systematic breakdown of fashion's qualities compared to other arts. Yes the title is clickbait, but watch Veritasium's video about clickbait if you want to know my justification for clickbait.
