Is it safe to do the convergence adjustments while the set is tirned on? I have a 19" Emerson VT-1920N that has convergence issues and I don't have a service manual for the set or the actual remote for it either.
ОтветитьWould you say/recommend hot glue instead of caulk to set the rings in place after tweaks or is that a no go? And what kind of caulk do you recommend Acrylic or Silicone?
And where could one buy decent yoke wedges/stoppers.. I can't find any except some weird looking rubber after market ones that look like doorstoppers.
Also I would like to voice my appreciation for your channel and all you do, I've been collecting CRT's for a few months and this channel helped me learn so much about servicing them.
Hello my tv doesn't have convergence rings . What to do and how to adjust it. Text is doubled.
ОтветитьWhy do people only post videos on sony pvm's? theyre the least common crt of them all
ОтветитьHello Steve, i follow you tips and repairs on this Channel. They are amazing helpful. I'm a proud owner of a Bang & Olufsen mx8000, but i have problems with H stat convergence. The H lines are not parallel and i notice a annoying barrel effect trough the screen.
Do you know about this model? I'm thinking to recap this TV.
Do you know if this would work on a 1982 front projection CRT?
ОтветитьHey Steve 2 things.1. the glue on mine is really hard, I don't want to break the rings can u use something to loosen it.
2. Do you have a like to the glue u use to reclose the rings
Does it need to put epoxy at all cost or can be something else ?
ОтветитьAwesome vid👍🏻
ОтветитьWhy every Sony TV fucks up,and the knock off ones with simple chasis stole from PAL Goldstar and Samsung tvs are not broking
ОтветитьSo, it is safe to do that kind of thing? My own monitor (LG F700P) needs adjustment because of color fringing (ghosting-like kind of stuff to the right of everything). I am afraid of getting shocked, so I've not done it yet, so I want to know what is and isn't safe to touch in a CRT monitor while it's working.
ОтветитьMan I looked this tool up and it was like $1,000 man. That's just wild I got this TV for 20 bucks I'm just going to call it good lol.
ОтветитьThis was really well explained. I was looking at some tutorials because I need to adjust the Focus and Convergence of my CRT. Thank you.
ОтветитьThanks for this! Just got a consumer Trinitron that I need to clean out so I figured I'd do an all-around convergence adjustment. Is it yoke then rings then magnets? Just want to make sure my order is correct...
ОтветитьVery nice video.Thanks q lot
ОтветитьAnybody living in Tokyo That could do that for me??? I’m having a hard time with my crt’s convergence!!!
ОтветитьAnybody living in Tokyo That could do that for me??? I’m having a hard time with my crt’s convergence!!!
ОтветитьHi Steve, I’ve been really enjoying your videos. I have a Trinitron what needs a bit of a service. It has had a bit of a drop in the past (dent in the bottom of the case) and had both minor convergence issues, and as well doesn’t show blacks rather a dim red screen when it should be black. I’m looking for someone to service the set and wondered whether you might know what an acceptable ballpark figure might be for such a service? Hoping to find someone in my local area but don’t want to over pay. Thanks!
ОтветитьHi, Steve. I have a Japanese KV-28DA55 that I have been setting up. I adjusted the HSTAT and the focus and now when ever there grays on the screen they are perfect but bright colors like yellow or orange and blue form some diagonal cross hatching pattern. In service mode if I set CTRAP to 0 it looks perfect! But even if I save it, when I turn the TV off and on again, CTRAP gets reset to 1 automatically or something and the x pattern show up where ever the colors are.
ОтветитьHey man I have a JVC with a d series tube, round glass with component. Really my grail tv but it has a slight green hue too it.
Is there anything I can change or adjust in the back of the tv to correct this?
What kind of caulk do you use?
ОтветитьHey Steve - what can we do to “break” the factory epoxy on the convergence/purity rings? Is it ok to just use force and break it off?
ОтветитьThank you so much for laying this out so clearly.
ОтветитьOnly sony televisions have the service menu?
ОтветитьHi,
i found your channel because i am looking on how to calibrate and adjust my R40xx raster scanner monitor for a Raytheon radar.
i cant center the radar onto the middle of the screen. also i cant get concentric rings on the display.
any tips?
How do I move the picture left and right or up and down if I dont have a service menu
ОтветитьThe most useful Crt Tv topic I've ever seen. I had an incredibly strong electric shock 27 years ago, out of curiosity I opened the inside of the Crt TV. Although I did not take any physical damage, an incredible voltage passed over me :D
Does the electric current not affect you?
I'm asking because I don't understand the language of the video, maybe you answered.
You have a source for the convergence lens? ~Jack, VEG
ОтветитьI just bought an Apple Color Display M1212. The image is cut at the bottom. Took it apart and played with every adjustment in the back. No luck.
If you could suggest anything, I’d appreciate it.
I have a wide screen panasonic that is sharp in the middle but blurred on the sides. Would you have an idea on how to fix that condition
ОтветитьThank you very much for your advice! Thank you.
ОтветитьNo veo colores solo blanco y negro q puedo hacer?!
ОтветитьHi Steve, what a great channel :-)! Why I found you, and why I will follow your from a now one for a long time: Recently I picked up an Sony Trinition KV-25X3D from my parents home (I'm in retro tech here in Germany since 25 years), which was located for over 20 years at the guests chamber. It was rarely in use, I would say "close to never". Besides the dust at the inside it looks and feels like new. I removed all dust, cleaned it, resoldered all high voltage and high power areas I found on all PCBs and started to calibrate it. The colors are brilliant, and about 90% of the screen is perfect. For one area, top right, it is impossible to get all 3 colors aligned, without killing the alignment of all other parts.
My dad, meanwhile at an age of 75, was a professional Radio/TV/Hifi employee in the 70s (later he switched to Digital Equipment Corp, you maybe know them, away from CRTs), and he and myself tried to adjust the colors, with the horizontal/vertical alignments directly at the tube and the tubes boards. After hours, the issue is still the same.
He told me about magnets, which were added back in the days to the back of the tube, to compensate geometry issues, but in his memories, this could not fix color issues like this.
Long text, short question: is any tube in "good condition" able to be calibrated in a specific war, or is it possible, that this tube will never back to about 100% of its old quality?
omg a CRT savior
ОтветитьI changed my tube yoke and the red grid happens to be smaller than the green one, any hints or tips on how to solve this?
ОтветитьWhat part of the crt you shouldn't touch while it is powered to avoid getting an electrical shock.
ОтветитьScanlines lindo até bem mais
ОтветитьBem RGB scanlines bonitas gosto perfeita 😘😍
ОтветитьIm wondering about those plastic rings on the back of yolk ,i moved one of those by accident when dissasemblying for repair. The crt works fine it just has maybe 5 pixels in upper left corner missing in like a soft angle. Do those plastic rings do anything? or can i just adjust it in service menu? thanks Oh never mind i just got to the part of the video you talked about it lol
ОтветитьHow do you remove or loosen the original glue? I've tried tugging twisting and prying but they are really bonded.
Ответитьgreat work! I just recapped my Commodore 1084s-p1 monitor but it also needs one degree tilt adjustment anticlockwise (as you see it from the front).. is it safe to turn the yoke one degree without the need to re-adjust all these parameters (convergence, etc)? - EDIT: I did it and seems to be ok. I noticed that there are 7 rings... three sets of two as expected and a 7th single ring right behind the yoke. What is that one for?
ОтветитьHey Steve! I have a Sony 2004 KV-FS120 and it needs a yoke adjustment and some purity calibration. Thanks so much for your help making it so easy to learn with visuals and everything. Now I have the confidence to get back there and do it myself (and yes I watched your safety video)
ОтветитьAwesome job.
ОтветитьI JUST WANT A REPAIR SERVICE.. THIS IS TOO HARD...but I live in spain and found no shop or profesionl who is able to do this.. ☹
ОтветитьPlease, tell me, what kind of high temperature sealant do you apply to the magnetic rings and to the tube?
ОтветитьHi there.
Long time fan of You and Artemio Urbina (mi paisano!) and I really, really respect what you and Artemio have been doing all these years for CRT monitors as they're sacred "vintage" modern treasures to this day...
But I can't help but tell you that, if I close my eyes while listening to what you're saying in this video, you kinda sound like Trump.
Haha!
Anybody knows the equivalent model of sony kv-14bmr1? I tried searching the internet for service manual or schematic but i just cant find the model.
