I have a mortgage so am paying less then I was rent (about £300-£400 a month) so we are better off in that regards. What sort of passive income would you suggest for a stay at home mother with not much time after school and little financial experience? Many thanks

Be careful buying used cars! Car sales people DO NOT treat everyone the same! There is A LOT that can be wrong with a car & you will have no clue until its way too late. This can cost hundreds; even thousands in repair bills! Its better to save & get an affordable NEW car.

Thanks for sharing the great video, loved to watch it. About the car: bought a brand new one when I turned 39, however it’s company car with seven years guarantee ; purchasing cost, maintenance, insurance etc. are operating cost, meaning money before taxes (depending on country tax policies). Still expensive, though. If I didn’t have the chance to activate these costs, I would’ve never opted for a new car.

I strongly disagree with “not buying a house” point. We purchased our first property in London with just 5% deposit for £300k and selling it now 6 years later for £480k. We spent around £30k to do a refurbishment so still leaving with £150k profit. We will now invest the money in property market in another country where you can buy 3 properties for that amount of money so big return.

These are very valuable rules for anybody who wants to get rich. Unfortunately, most people who will watch this video will not really be able to apply the principles. We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. No surprise that some people are losing a lot of money in the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it. I have about $109k now to put in the market.

Haha. I’ve been following this advice (not necessarily out of choice) most of my life, but I’m still not a millionaire! I did make the mistake of buying a new car at one point and got rid of it after 3 years for a fraction of its value (but we had a lot of fun with it). Ever since, I’ve been driving old bangers to the point that I am sometimes embarrassed to drive around in it.

I can’t agree about avoiding having a partner in life. Yes it’s expensive, but what is the point of living if you’re going to be lonely and miserable. My partner did, however, help me to economize and expand my business, so she turned out to be a “good investment”, despite what you advise.

The biggest costs in my life was s-ending money on the wrong kind of businesses and not making a healthy, sustainable income from them. It took a lot of trial and error (and learning about the fundamentals of good business and marketing that you DON’T find in business books or from how-to-be-successful gurus or small enterprise startup programs). And the other big cost was having kids!

But it was worth it. I have enough in my life anyway - it’s a different kind of wealth. Not rich, and I still have to budget and economize and invest in R&D, but getting measurably richer each year… so that I’ll be sure to be rich by the time I die. And that’s not so bad :)

I paid off my home during the GFC in 2009. It was simpler brick rambler with very low upkeep costs and I paid $1,000 a year in property taxes. You can't believe the peace of mind that gives. Then, you can't believe how much money you have to save / invest every month without a mortgage payment.

The paid off house gives you something to fall back on if you lose that job or want to reinvent yourself for another line of work. It is freedom. The other points, I agree with.

Most of the recommendations are valid also to have a less environmental-impacting lifestyle. I don’t agree with savings on presents in a relationship, but important anyway to be mindful about it and don’t be useless crap or things that are just thrown on a pile. I don’t agree either with the first advance regarding buying a house. It probably depends a lot on where you live, but if the rent matches the interest expenses on the loan, on the long run you get a chance to almost erase your fixed costs (good investments to made here are solar panels and a geothermal warming system for your house). Regarding the car, particularly if one lives in Europe, public transportation is also an alternative to buy a car. If you need to, buying a second hand electric vehicle and charge it at home. In this way, you will also be covered for fluctuations of gas prices

I never bought ANY of those things. I spent my 20s & 30s having kids & raising them. Bare basics of food, shelter, clothes, & transportation was all I could afford. Worked 90+ hrs/wk for most of my adult life. I'm 48 & still not rich.
I own 2 broke down cars & getting to work w a loaner from a friend until I can save enough to get my ride fixed. House will be paid off in 2 yrs but needs more money to repair the roof, siding, windows, porches, etc than it's worth.
I never got into stock market because that just seems like gambling to me. The "house" ALWAYS wins.

I completely agree with all your points but on the subject of personal property. Any capital gains you make is tax free so if you are happy to move around (the more the better) and are aiming to add value to your own home this is a good way to make a lot of money. (I guess that falls into the hacking category)

About drinking, I do agree: do NOT to drink till you are drunk. It is a terrible idea and bring nothing positive. However I do drink a glass of red win almost every day. This is perfect during a dinner, don't make your drunk and have no real drawback.

I made a yearly profit of 26% over my house in the last 10 years. Buying a house to live in is a big and safe roi. Since I have no mortgage on it anymore by now I save every month a 1500-2000 euro of rent that I would otherwise spend on a house. You need a place to live in, bigger proftis is bigger risks, and a house is a solid foundation.

I’m not a millionaire, though… 🤔

I disagree with some of your views. Some of the purchases we make- like a new car- give us motivation and confidence to keep working hard. You need to- every now and then- reap the rewards of intense effort and reward yourself. Same goes for taking care of your partner. They are the ones who will support you in the difficult moments and will keep you on the right path- so buying flowers is totally worth it.
My rule is to save first, spend whatever is left and also to buy stuff with saved money. Once you save 2-3 months to get the new iPhone, you either don’t want it anymore, or you’d rather keep your money. Then again I am not a millionaire, so I could be wrong 😊
