Mixcraft 7: Quick Start Guide

Installing audio interface/latency not clear at all ! I'm so stuck with conflicting instructions on asio, asio4 etc etc.... Not even seen song kit... Home recording sucks.....

When I try to mix the file down to a MP3, I get a message saying you are trying to render or burn a project that contains external MIDI synthesizers. External synthesizers audio does not go through Mixcraft and the software is not able to mix or burn it. What can I do to download a song I created as an MP3 using my Casio keyboard?

Including and automatically loading the brilliant Glen Phillips' song "The Easy Ones" upon the initial startup was pure genius on your part. I think I'm sold on Mixcraft over Reaper. Hearing a beautifully produced song right out of the pocket, and being able to see the tracks, channels, and busses right out of the gate, makes the UI so much easier to decode than a blank slate. Well done!

Driver
You can choose from Wave or ASIO mode. This choice changes the rest of the controls available on this page. The ASIO option will be unavailable if no ASIO drivers are found on your computer.

Default Settings
This button will reset your driver and settings to the default. This will change your settings to the Wave driver at 44,100 hz, stereo, 16 bits ( 8 buffers @ 16384 bytes).

Latency refers to a short period of delay (usually measured in milliseconds) between when an audio signal enters a system and when it emerges. Latency can be a particular problem in audio platforms, for instance, the standard Microsoft Windows audio drivers which can cause latency up to 500 ms.[citation needed] Supported interface optimization will reduce the delay down to times that are too short for the human ear to detect. By altering the buffer sizes down to the lowest functioning settings, a build-up of delay can be eliminated without causing stuttering of the audio.[10] A popular solution to combat this is Steinberg's ASIO, which bypasses these layers and connects audio signals directly to the sound card's hardware. Many professional and semi-professional audio applications utilize the ASIO driver, allowing users to work with audio in real time.[11] Pro Tools HD offers a low latency system similar to ASIO. The RT-kernel (RealTime-kernel)[12] is a modified Linux-kernel, that alters the standard timer frequency the Linux kernel uses and gives all processes or threads the ability to have realtime-priority. This means that a time-critical process like an audio-stream can get priority over another, less-critical process like network activity. This is also configurable per user (for example, the processes of user "tux" could have priority over processes of user "nobody" or over the processes of several system daemons). On a standard Linux-system, this is possible with only one process at the same time.

I think I have a good idea! for a daw that would be easy to use! first, you type or say what you want to do, or it gives you a choice in what to do, as soon as you select one of the three choices, a voice narrator speaks and points and move the presets and icons showing you what to do and how to work the program on the screen.

Check how I mix in Mixcraft 8, and it sounds better than all those expensive programs drop a comment if it's good or bad, I need opinions.!

Really superb, clear, well demonstrated introduction - not taken too seriously either ('pizza' song) but never trying to be over cool like the saddoes who always begin with "Wassup guys, Yo! Been funkin' and' groovin', Yeah!". (Pillocks!!) Found your explanations super-clear and definitely helped me decide to go down the Mixcraft route for my first DAW.

I want to import a completed stereo .wav file stage track.Then overdub 1 to 3 vocal tracks or 1 to 3 horns tracks. Can that easily be done? Then mix it down to a stereo .wav file to make a CD.
