AAA HOBBIES IS A MONEY GRUBBING RIPOFF ! DONT BUY KITS THERE. BUY SMART. HOBBY LOBBY,OLLIES, AMAZON PRIME. THE OWNERS ARE GREEDY WHORES. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WHY THEY NEED TO CHARGE
FULL RETAIL PRICE ON THEIR KITS .
THEY "THINK" THEY ARE DOING CUSTOMERS A BIG DEAL BY HANDING OUT A COUPON WHEN YOU SPEND A LOT OF MONEY THERE. THATS A BIG INSULT SEEING THEIR PRICES ARE ALREADY HIGH. I ONLY BUY PAINT.
THATS ALL I CAN AFFORD WITH THEIR PRICES. I THOUGHT I WAS OVER PRICING WHEN I MANAGED "ALLIED HOBBIES" IN THE OXFORD VALLEY MALL BUT THESE OWNERS ARE RIDICULOUSLY GREEDY. THE COHENS WERE GREEDY, ESPECIALLY ATHENA, AAA ARE ON ANOTHER LEVEL.
If I came home and put on an apron my wife would ask me “ oh, whats for dinner?”.
ОтветитьCool video!
ОтветитьHi, anyone knows if loctite super glue is good for plastic model kits? In my country tamiya and humbrol glue are too costly, but model kits are affordable.
ОтветитьI built my first model car which was a Speed Racer 20+ years ago. I didn’t even get to put on wheels , stickers & paint cause my sister in law’s low life having ass boyfriend broke in our house & trashed my room. Broke my action figures & broke my modeling assembly area. I haven’t bought any figures or model kits since but I’m thinking about getting back in.
ОтветитьI saw some model kits for various coca cola cars, one that i really liked was a 1977 Ford pinto with the coca cola logo on it, Ive always loved the idea of realistic cars on smaller scales, I wish I was big enough of a car fan cause I have this weird fantasy of buying a toy car and painting it and adding stuff to make it realistic, I dont know why I have this obsession, im not a huge car person but i love the Idea of model cars, Ive always liked lego sets because you are given a set rule and you have to follow it to make something, and its simple and silly, and I long for a world where my job is esembling intricate little models, I love the Idea and I watched this to see the models.
ОтветитьExcellent video. I learnt alot
ОтветитьI’m currently building a 57 Chevy Bel Air.
ОтветитьThat’s not the right way of pronouncing tamiya, it’s a Japanese name, it is pronounced Tammy-yah. Make the effort to respect other languages
ОтветитьWhat’s a “uddery”consistency I wonder
Ответитьgood video. need to say that glue does not stick to chrome.clean chrome off glue area before gluing. nobody told me this when i was a kid and chrome always fell off.
ОтветитьI am really looking for some one to put my 69 torino cobra together. Any suggestions
ОтветитьAmazinggg....
Ответитьgreat video! thanks for the tips! check out my build videos if you get the chance.
ОтветитьI jumped head first into this without fully reading up on it, I got a GMC general and kenworth W900 but I don’t got nothing that’s recommended to paint and glue it together. I’m curious on how you are meant to glue certain parts together that won’t even hold onto each other to begin with. Very confusing. Maybe I need some quick setting glue/cement?
ОтветитьI have a model kit for a ship 🚢 but I'm new to building a model so I don't have any tools or paint. Is there a pre made tool/paint kit for building a model kit?
Ответитьseems like there is alot to learn for someone starting on this hobby
ОтветитьI’m 31 years old. A couple weeks ago I was sitting in my garage (I’m a go to work, relax at home, go to bed, wake up and repeat kinda guy) and I thought it was a good idea to finally burn the shoebox in my closet that held a lot of “memories” compiled over 13 years... I took a video of it and the next day a friend of mine commented on a wooden chest he saw in my garage. I forgot all about it - my dads wood carving tools. That’s when the gears started turning. I’ve ALWAYS wanted to get into models and miniatures and building small stuff. So I went to Hobby Lobby, picked up a model car kit, browsed around and started making a shopping list..... Here I am, today, over the moon that I found this hobby. :) About to finish my first model - 1969 Camaro. Starting my second soon! :D
ОтветитьIn the future, I want to do a LIVE on model building 101. To cover the basics. By all means, if you are excited and want to start, you can start today. There is a lot of information out there on model building. It is a great hobby that I love.
ОтветитьBuilding models is a great stress reducer. I built many car and truck models until I bought my 59 El Camino. I am still passionate about model cars and trucks today. Something to consider.
ОтветитьTHANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! TOTALLY AWESOME VIDEO AND EDUCATION!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!! SO MUCH FUN!!!
ОтветитьI’m considering on my next build to spray prime (rattle can) all paintable part on the sprue. Then after a good drying time do my build and hand paint everything needing painting prior to assembly. Like cockpit parts or engine parts. Doing this in lieu of painting onto the plastic and hopefully eliminate brush strokes and get a better finish. Anyone ever go that route?
ОтветитьTake a screenshot while you can. This is called an independent store that has inventory.
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьI love models cars and boats and planes. When I was young long time ago 50s and 60s and 70s.
I am 73 yrs.old
Great Channel! Thank you for your work
ОтветитьYou have an incredible Mega-Hobby Super-site! 😁
ОтветитьEven today, I as a teen fell in love with building models❤
ОтветитьYou forgot 1 step. Before you glue the chrome to anything, carefully scrape off the chrome at the point you apply the glue. I have so many problems with the red testor tube glue when I try n stick chrome to any other part.
Ответитьgreat way to force yourself to learn patience
ОтветитьWudder!
ОтветитьAs a long time builder of plastic kits, this presentation is interesting, but clearly intended for beginners as an introduction to the hobby and pastime enjoyed by thousands worldwide.
How much help the video would be to anybody thinking about entering the hobby seems uncertain though.
Viewing the work table from a distance using a fixed position camera that has clear limitations that may be ameliorated viewed on a wide screen monitor. My first viewing was using a tablet. Second time around tough I'll cast to a 32" monitor and this may be an improvement.
Made for new entrants into the hobby, its also of interest to old hands who enjoy watching videos like this one and often other kit builder can provide examples of their techniques that are helpful to others regardless of their own experiences.
A long time past, as the late 1950s became the early 1960s and like our host, and alternative journey home was a walk though town. The purpose of this was to call in at the three stores I enjoyed visiting the most.
Music stores to see the guitars they stocked and hobby shops to scope any new kits.
Small city, small population so not a wide variety of kits to choose from. But in the last third of a century with ready access to overseas sellers, there are few items of hobby interest that are not available to mailorder now that the world has become a worldwide shopping precinct. Covid-19 pandemic not withstanding.
On your chrome parts you'll want to remove the chrome where you plan to glue because most glues for plastic kits will not adhere to the chrome they is placed on the part
ОтветитьI love AAA! One of the best stores in the country. Endless cool stuff there. I think it’s Magnolia, NJ
Ответитьnot to sound like a smelly hippie but this guys energy is really pleasant
ОтветитьLol I recently got a T-34/85 airfix model build and I’ve never really modelled before and got it due to it being my favourite tank but it looks tricky but I should be able to build it I’m good at the other basic stuff but do you recommend painting it first before built?
ОтветитьDoes your website sell and ship to Canada?
ОтветитьHere's a little tip for enamel paints. Open the paint up and drop a BB or two in the bottle. If the pigment starts to settle, just shake it like a spray can to mix the paint. I do it with all my paint bottles.
ОтветитьDo you all have a magazine that shows please models kits please
ОтветитьI just got 4 kits from Walmart. I don't normally do model kits but I couldn't pass the prices. They are level 2 kits. An 89gmc truck, batmobile with batman, Kirk era enterprises and a kit with two Kirk era Klingon ships. I paid $2 for each kit.
ОтветитьI could literally spend hours in that shop just looking at all the different kits...
ОтветитьI love models too!!!!!!!
ОтветитьWhat you pointed to isn't the "sprue". The sprue is where the plastic enters the mold. Model parts are connected together by the runner, not the sprue.
ОтветитьI see hobby shops in pics and videos and i just want to cry. The one and only store in my home town closed down over 25 years ago.
ОтветитьMy favorite hobby shop 🤣
ОтветитьI used to buy models that could be built in one of several versions. After I built the versions I wanted, I would gather together all the unused parts from the various kits and build "custom cars."
ОтветитьI remember when the department stores used to have many shelves of plastic models. Haven't seen one in so long I thought the hobby might have died out. I guess you have to go to hobby stores to find them now. Seems like it might be a good to get back into it as an old age hobby...
