Zoom L-12 Review & Setup - Audio Interface and Recorder!

I have the same mixer with a lot of recorded audio i did. How can i split in to different tracks and what software do u use on ur laptop

Where is the mix minus video?

Do they still make these things? I haven’t seen any reviews for any since 2921 through 2023.

I want to use this to record a swing band live and also use it as the PA mixer... The mix live levels will be different live (the band is loud so I want vocals boosted live more than the band) but for the recording I want to be able to even out everything.. does that sound possible? Like do the faders determine how it is recorded or is it just based on gain?

How do I delete individual tracks I want to clear and use again later but keep other say 7 tracks on the same recording?

How do I record individual tracks with different instruments one at a time without losing tracks previous recorded ?

Excellent overview. It's 2023 and I just ordered the L20. It's genius. You did a great job showing how to separately mix aux outs. Well done. Nobody else shows this.

I don't know why so many people have a problem with the ’record/play implementation.’ there is nothing weird about it. that is how professional recording consoles work.. even DAWs work like that. It's how you arm your recording and prepare for a punch in and punch out.. overdubbing is a feature of this board.. nothing weird.. people shouldn't be complaining about it but they should be getting used to working professionally. I hope Zoom does not listen to all the amateurs that are complaining about it. there comes a time when people need to learn new skills. quit your whining.. and people doing reviews like this should be keeping an open mind.. not advocating for a change to a workflow that they're clearly unfamiliar with

Thank you for the video. I am using L12 for my online Live stream in the church. But the issue i faced in L12 is Mics responds after few seconds when audio is sent to mixer. i have tried changing the wires. It looks like its on the Silent Mode . Anyone who has faced such issue ? Please Advice.

Since it is a mixer that is designed to solve many aspects and be portable, the one that has a structure in plastic makes it a plus for me. It is true that it will not withstand impacts, but that is why the manufacturer sells its transport bag.

I cannot get Mac OS X Ventura nor Windows 10 to recognize my Zoom Livetrak L-12 as an audio interface even when I installed the latest drivers/firmware and also connect and set switch on the back of the device to USB audio interface.

How do you get the mixer settings to come on your computer? Mine does not do that yet. 🙃

I really like this mixer, the only thing I'm disappointed with is the volume of the stereo channels: I plug in my iPhone here to play drums along with any song, but the volume is super low, in both master/monitor our as well in the recorded track. Any tip? Is that normal? Thank you

I know this video is 5 years old, but hopefully you will see this comment. I have the L12 and just started using it as an interface for multitrack recording. However, the USB Audio Returns are horrendous. Lots of fuzz and what sounds like choppy, unintelligible audio. I've been on a few forums and have watched numerous videos on how to resolve this issue. I've changed buffer settings as well. I thought I had it figured out but then it stated doing it again. Interested to know if you had encountered the same issue or not?

I love L-12, too. This is very very high cost-performance, and is a good starter to learn how Mixer works. Doesn't look cheap at all!

Good video! How would I go about recording the Master Out (with effects applied) direct to an iPad Pro? Is it a case of pressing the Record button on the Master track and using the 'Host' out to the iPad?......or is the Master without effects?

I also have Livetrack L20. My only negative point is that, like the Tascam Model 24, Zoom doesn't have all the buttons on a strip. You can suggest a Zoom manager to study this possibility. I think it would be gold on blue. We know it would be more expensive. But I don't mind paying more. I love your presentation. Good job.

Question: I have the Zoom L-12. Using it for a 4 person podcast. For some reason, only 1 microphone audio sounds perfect. The other the microphones sounds like they are just in the background but they all are recording???

Question, I bought Cubase 11 about a year ago, not that it matters much to me which DAW one uses, but could you possibly tell me how much latency this Zoom L-12 mixer introduces while recording a signal? In Cubase there's this feature that shows you latency, and if I'm not mistaken my Audient soundcard has a 18ms latency, which is okay because humans don't hear small latency like that. I've searched a lot, but I don't have enough time due to my work life schedule so I'd be glad to get an answer, thanks :)

Hi Ray! Would have any knowledge about the Zoom live trak L-20 channel fader, can it controls the faders in cubase or any daw?

Nice tutorial !! When you record to sd card does it save all the scenes per fader ? And when you record to sd card does it record the channels with fx? And if I load a sd card mix , do I put the mode switch back

If you're looking to use in ear monitors, avoid the Zoom L-12. It's not possible to set up separate EQ settings for the in ear monitor mixes vs the main master mix. This is an extremely poor oversight by Zoom. I hope they release a firmware update to address this. I'm looking to sell my L-12 and get something better for this reason. They advertise it on the premise you can set up 5 separate headphone/in ear monitor mixes, but it's next to useless if you can't have different EQ settings on each track in the monitor mixes than the main mix.
