You're in a bubble but it's a good bubble😂
ОтветитьWe always enjoy your videos, brother.
ОтветитьThank you, JAMES for sharing you and Mel’s life with us. I’m sitting here on a Saturday morning 25° in Conyers Georgia. I have visited the Philippines a couple of times so far the information you’re sharing so valuable to me and many others. You are great example and mentor to myself and many others. God willing I will be spending some of my retirement there as well. The information you share will definitely help me with my decisions when planning for the move. Thank you, sir.
ОтветитьCarrying those rocks is young man’s game James……….keep doing it, and you’ll stay a young man💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
ОтветитьBest intel yet James. Quality and accuracy and you have the whit to top off.
ОтветитьWhere are you located? I'd like to visit.
ОтветитьBeen watching you 4 years from Rockwall and Collin County. I like your build videos and kind of always thought that was your niche. This video is the best ever. Have completed my second month visit to the Philippines and your observations about life there are spot on. Adapting to a new culture and staying in your own positive state of mind is paramount.
ОтветитьWell done to you ..what you doing is good 👍 🇿🇦🇿🇦
ОтветитьYou deceived your self man, no other because we know the truth.
Stop living a lie.
Yeah miss my Tex-Mex, Texas BBQ, and George Strait and Willie. BUT I roll with change. IF you don't mind, what part of Texas are you from?
ОтветитьBuying land here is so stupid, crazy experience
ОтветитьThe problem of assimilating into a new culture often involves the constant comparison to one's own, and it's usually focused on the negatives. I attempted to live in the US but I didn't like it either. I find myself more at ease navigating the chaotic and crowded streets of Manila than dealing with the persistent fear of harm while navigating through US cities teeming with hardcore personalities., which, for Americans, might be as commonplace as Manila is for me.
ОтветитьWhats the deal with beach concrete?
ОтветитьStone video? Please....
ОтветитьForget anyplace Luzon. Manila is not for me. Crime ridden, scamming shithole.
ОтветитьHi James, im from Texas myself and was surprised to hear you mention things you miss like BUC-EE'S (when you mentioned things not where you live now)... i say surprised because i grew up down the street and spent lots of nights and played in the house continuously with the founder of BUC-EE'S... Beaver Aplin... who opened his first Buc-ee's store less than a mile from our neighborhood at the corner of Old Angleton Road and Oyster Creek Drive... Beaver's real name is Archibald "Arch" Aplin Jr. but we gave him the nickname Beaver because of his big front teeth... so this is why there's a beaver on the BUC-EE'S logo... also a little more FYI is the "BUC" - in Buc-ee's comes from our local high school team name which was the Brazosport Buccaneers... so he named his first store BUC-EE'S to give his store the feel of a hometown store to differentiate it from the Stop-n-Go, 7-11 and other convenience stores in our town and obviously it worked because he went from owning one store that his father loaned him money to open... just a mile from our neighborhood to owning who knows how many Buc-ee's location there are now... anyway it was cool to be kicked back on the sofa in the philippines at 70's years of age (i've been here since 2015) and hear a vlogger mention a childhood friend's business as a place he misses about Texas... because as all us Texans know... "you can take the boy out of Texas... but you can never take Texas out of the boy." all the best, Christian
ОтветитьNew subscriber! Loved your video a week or so ago with the tilapia. I recently attended an ag workshop at the local university where I met someone with a large commercial tilapia farm nearby. She told me that they have to harvest the tilapia when they get large enough because they get aggressive & start fighting with each other and messing with the equipment in the tanks (pH, DO, temp probes, etc.).
You and Mel are so blessed to have found each other. You both add so much fascinating and diverse content to the channel!
Having a Utube channel is too much like work came here to retire not to be on Utube 😂😂😊
ОтветитьTrue that my friend. The Sharks have attacked 25 XPATS here in Valencia/Dumaguete. The Orange Kite Group have scammed hundreds of thousands of USD. The old Dog even got hustled.
Must be the Redneck or Cop in me but I knew in less than 5 minutes that the South African white boy was a hustler. I shined his ass and sent him down the road. The Coconut telegraph is on fire. People were warned but they drank the Koolaide... I'm guessing he ends up with lead poisoning. Karma is a bitch!
Awesome video James !! Very well said !! You have a beautiful house and place !!! Watching from Jacksonville Florida USA 🇺🇸 God bless you both!! 🥰🙏🇺🇸💕🎄
ОтветитьAnother great video James. Congrats on the 50k subs. Sana all.
ОтветитьWe built 100 sq meters house one story and we used 16mm round bar with big post and a steel roof on 200 sq meters lot and did this in 2017 for 50k usd and with a sari sari store .We are in a subdivision close to the Solano market . Not in a bubble like i would rather be lol. We paid 350k just for the lot in 2015 . we rented a 2 bedroom Apartment till 2017 for 6k pesos a month then moved into our new house .I don't want a big house or two stories because i have bad knees from 31 years of coal mining .
Ответить@TexasFilipino this is the first time in several months that I’ve watched one of your videos. Are you STILL building on your property? Good Gosh. Anyway, I’m a CPA here in the US, so I think of things in terms of cost. How much have you spent on development of your property?
ОтветитьI haven’t built yet but you are convincing me more and more about going with solid walls. Even though it costs more it’s worth it. Plus our home wouldn’t be a big. Thanks James. Plus learned about your personal life!👍 joe
ОтветитьJames, I'm in PI now, again. Place looks great. If you are heading to Dumaguete anytime soon, give me a buzz. Been watching, just been busy.
ОтветитьGreat video sir. Glad to be back can’t wait until I catch up on the videos that I’ve missed. I bet you have enjoyed the break from my questions though 😂😂 have a great day
ОтветитьJames, we understand being busy, and the fact that you are building your empire. But I need to know how long it takes to respond an email from a member? For me, I usually try to get back to someone with a week. Now given that you are building a resort, I thought maybe...two weeks.. at most. You have given us your email address for the AirBnB and you use the same email address for your members and I have followed the instructions you gave us under the perks. So before I go any further, I'd like to know if I as a member for more than 11 months (12 months paid) can expect a response to my emails addressed to you?
I'm supportive of everything you are doing in the Philippines and I love your videos, but if you could read my emails as I do have some Member questions for you, I'd appreciate if you do me a solid on a response to my emails (any response will do).
Love living In Daanbantayan Cebu been coming here 15 yrs own 4 homes and a grocery store here stress free love the people here zero stress, zero debt, killing it, peace
Ответитьreally curious who the "guy with the hat and glasses" is.....that pretty much could be ANY PH vlogger expat. Curious if it's the one i'm thinking as he gives really really bad advice.
ОтветитьI seen your house very beautiful. Well constructed. It’s good that you are very informed and knowledgeable about house building. most foreigners. Get ripped off by contractors workmanship is very bad with most builders and there is no recourse legally to do anything about the builder. most foreigners have to go to 4,5,6 or builders before they get a good one. If you try and sell it, the only people that are going to be able to buy it is foreigners. Most Filipinos would not be able to afford it. It will be on the market for years. I’m glad you mentioned that this is for your wife when you pass that is good.. but as you age there is only 3 hospitals that are equipped for any type of serious medical issue a are in the Manila area you live. If you have a heart attack there’s no 911 more than likely you’ll die. I’ve been married to my Filipino wife for over 20 years. Tried to buy property there twice all they wanted to do is rip me off. I’m 68 years old now and do not have the mental ambition or strength to deal with these type of people all they want to do is rip you off i’m trying to think of a way to get a house from my wife, but we also have problem with her children. They are not responsible and there would be no one to take care of the house when we’re away because of all my medical issues I would not be able to retire in the Philippines. The Filipino people are very kind and polite, except when it comes to money issues, you can’t trust no one
ОтветитьThank you for another lovely truthful video from life in the Philippines, I just got back from Denmark on November 12th and I think I will stay this time and if the situation in the world allows it I will explore those places in Asia when the time and finances allow and maybe meet the woman of my life if the right one should cross my path. 🇩🇰🇵🇭👍💞🌹🙏
ОтветитьFirst time I viewed your channel. I have been coming to Philippines since 1990 at age 26. I lived here most of those years (mostly I was back in North America from 2020 to 2024 and rest in Philippines). I was born in New Orleans, have lived in Texas, California, Arizona, and Baja California.
I want to vouch for a few of your key points:
1. Too many vloggers give an entire unrealistic of the pitfalls of the Philippines.
2. Your bubble does not show all the pitfalls.
3. A bubble is not easily to successfully achieve in the Philippines. Again many pitfalls and the experience required takes years or decades to acquire.
4. Finding a trustworthy and reliable Filipina takes years or decades and building that inseparable bond for years BEFORE launching into financial arrangements.
Good job james stay healthy,,,eat nutrition foods and drink at a time a softdrinks 👍💪💪👏👏🙏😀
Ответить1 day is too much cocoa cola is poison
ОтветитьYou did a great job building that home, but you built it as if you were building in Hawaii. Don’t get me wrong, you built what you’re comfortable with. The problem is now you have caused the price of land in your area to go up 20 to 30 times rendering a Filipino unable to afford land in their own country. As you know, if you’re not boots on the ground you’ll get robbed blind. Anything not bolted down will disappear. That leaves you unable to leave your home unattended for an extended period. Another issue is it’s not possible to get homeowners insurance as far as I know, so when a natural disaster hits your area you end up repairing the house out of pocket. You’ve already built your castle, so I just want to tell others coming after you they shouldn’t build an American style home in the Philippines for the above reasons, also because it’s extremely difficult to sell a house that size and recoup your money in the Philippines
ОтветитьI have no idea why someone would want to live in a third world country.
ОтветитьU have a beautiful ❤ blessings to u and ur fam
ОтветитьIf you’re comfortable, living a good life is all that matters. You never had the experience of living in the Philippines under martial law…
ОтветитьMerry Christmas James Melinda and family, great insight into what is really like to live in the philippines. I was there in Iloilo city for 7 months last year and can confirm the high cost of rentals I was paying 45k a month for a standard condo.
ОтветитьJLB making bank $$$ playing your vids on his channel, about Sir Thor tan when he only live in Bali , Philippine not good enough for him to live in
ОтветитьHey compared to FL weather is ph similar ? worse ?
ОтветитьI remember the vid of you picking up and towing your boat back home. Wondering if you ever got that thing working and if so have you taken it out? And also curious how you launch it without a western style cemented launch ramp? Enjoy your vids, thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьHi James

I sure hope that when I do finally get over there to Cebu, I meet people like you. Thank you.. I am retired military 31 years, I know what it is like over there and plan on living in a bubble myself. I have been married twice, first with an American Lady, and had three kids. Second happened 9 years after the first, this time with a Filipina Lady. We have had our share of problems, over 26 years now, no kids but lots of family and we are still doing good. Because of Life, we have had issues with Finances, but I have my retirement and are currently making plans to move.. I thank you.. I like watching your videos.
ОтветитьExcellent
ОтветитьIf old dogs ever get a title to his land would you help him do a home
