Never buy base model if you are pro, I am struggling with my M1 air base model. It remains really laggy most of the time.

Thank you for this video, it actually shows how Vadim from MaxTech is spreading misinformation and BS to people by telling them they'd rather upgrade storage than RAM because SWAP is better.

Is it safe to buy M2 air base model considering thermal throttling issue? I would use it for coding, video editing and virtualisation with parallels. Or get a M1 instead. Thanks.

16 GB ram on professional IT laptop? Ridiculous. I would consider anything below 32GB ram trash. 64GB is the mandatory if you are doing anything with large datasets. You can get 64GB ram for next to nothing on PC laptops just by simple upgrade, but it will cost you an arm and leg in apple land.

selling a laptop in 2023 with 256 gig storage should be punishable by law

We use a mix of windows machines and mac machines at FERENDIN Engineering for our development needs. Mac machines handle ram more efficiently in general than Windows machines. Regardless if you are on windows or mac, get ram from the start. It's easier to upgrade ssd and not so much to upgrade ram. Also.. external sdd is an option too.

I normally don't comment but you made me man this is the exact video i was in search for !! Apple doesn't reveal or rather doesn't want us consumers to know their hardware component limitations for each available options. thanks a lot

It would be interesting to compare the SSD's TBW status before and after using all that swap.

The MacBook came with 8Gb and 256Gb as base configuration in 2015. It’s crazy that Apple still has that as the RAM and SSD base configuration in MacBooks.

my 2013 MBP has 16gb. I wouldn't upgrade for less than 32gb as a developer. Buying only 16gb in 2023 sounds insane to me.

I found on my 14inch m2 pro 16gig to show the famous beach ball, when running a about 10 chrome tabs, docker, photoshop and adobe illustrator. For me, illustrator was the main hog when I have 2 or 3 files with each around 30 art boards that have a lot of vector illustrations. I guess it’s safe to say 32 gig of rams would be a better choice.
