Tyrion Lannister - There Is Your Peace - Game of Thrones 1x10 (HD)

Dammit, now I need to go back and rewatch season 1. Given the massive downturn in quality at the end, it's easy to forget just how good the beginning was. No wonder it took the world of pop culture by storm.

//a detail some might have missed is that Tywin didn't appoint Tyrion as hand of the king and gave him respect because he was proud. He did it, because at the time the possibility of rescuing Jaime was hopeless. He's giving up on Jaime. And he's approaching Tyrion now because Tyrion is now his only remaining son, and he needs someone from the family who he can trust (which cannot be Kevan, as Tywin needs his second in command to campaign against the Starks).

Worked once upon a time butt came back to haunt him in the privy.

To this day I can’t tell if Tywin genuinely had faith in Tyrion’s skill as a strategist or if he was just trying to manipulate him.

Something that always bothered me about this scene is how Tyrion knew Tywin was asking him to stay out of a room full of his bannermen. It would have made more sense to say "Not you Tyrion". I know it would have served to validate Tyrion which Tywin was not keen on, but still that exchange bothers me for some reason.

I always judged tywin for judging whores and thinking they can’t be good options for marriage but now in 2023 as I am years older seeing girls on IG and OF, I understand why he was so judgemental about whores.

What’s interesting is how DISGUSTED Tyrion is in the books by his father here, because he interprets his fathers fake respect as his accepting Jaime’s death.

God's the dialogue was strong then

Tywin is the GOAT. Everything else in this show just plummeted after he died 😢

This is when tyrion should have bargained for castle rock

To bad Tyrion didn't follow his father's advice and cut off Petyr's and Vary's heads when he was the Hand of the king.

Charles Dance delievered the role the best way possible. He was amazing, I loved every scene Tywin was in.

Tywin is the most badass character in GOT

I know you folks down here are explaining that in the books Tyrion understands that Tywin only says "you're my son" because he doesn't expect to see Jaime again, but I still love it that way. I live to see just one second, ONE SECOND of respect from Tywin to Tyrion.

........"you're my son.."

Imagine how much pride he had to swallow to say those words, now knowing what he really thinks of Tyrion.

Tyrion’s gaging face never grows old

T - "And one more thing. You won' take that whore to court"
t - "Why? Because you hate me?"
T - "Because the court has to many, it can't hold anymore whores."
t - "Baelish..."
T - Baelish said he can't accept anymore filth into his eastablishment. Court-ladies affect negatively on his "normal whores."

"Not you!"
"Me, my Lord? I'm flattered...."
"I wasn't talking to you, Jimmy! Get out of here!"

This might be the only time Tywin shown a slight bit of respect. If that was my dad saying "because your my son" I would be like fucK YEAH LETS GO DADDY!

Imagine how differently the course of events would have transpired if Tywin were able to recognize himself in Tyrion

You can see the difference in Tywin's reaction when Tyrion gets captured vs when Jaime gets captured

Tyrion:
"Crap, we need to make sure our house saves face"

Jaime:
"THEY HAVE MY SON!"

Tywin was right she was for the streets and he was his son. None of that stuff would've never happen. Unfortunately his father and nephew was horrible ppl.

Tywin: get out, all of you.
Tyrion walks out.
Tywin: not you.
Tyrion: perhaps you should've said, everyone but Tyrion leave

Tywin holds out an olive branch to Tyrian, recognises he may have misjudged him and gives him his chance to step up to rule. Instead Tyrian throws it away with drink and prostitutes. Who exactly is in the wrong in this dynamic? I’m on team Tywin with this one.

I love Tywin is the complete opposite of his Father. His Father was stupid, easily influenced and too kind. The lords of the Westerlands would laugh and make fun of Tywins Father behind his back. They also took advantage of his kindness like not paying back their debts they owed house Lannister. Tywins father also loved humor and laughter which is why Tywin never laughs and doesn’t like humor. All Tywin learned from his Father as the heir to Casterly Rock was to act nothing like his Father.

I think that Tywin was already banging Shae.

How would it look if the King let someone who called him a child of incest - walk away with no consequence? I have to say Jeoffry made the right call, although he didn’t do it for the right reasons. He did it to torture Sansa and to stroke his own sadism.

When this show was good, it was so damn good.

This is the best decision Tywin ever made. It's just a shame he decided to throw him aside as soon as things were looking up for the Lannisters.

Tywin is the type of guy that makes ppl feel important if he knows their name 😂

"you're my son." In other words, he needs every able bodied commander dealing with the northern threat and turns to his only remaining son because he has little choice otherwise.

This scene alone makes no sense tyrion killing tywin !!

Not is a fatherly way, of course, but being the son of the Hand of the King affords Tyrion legitimacy and authority as the acting Hand that others would lack. Being uncle to the king and brother to the king's mother also helps.

The look on Kevan's face when he realises how right Tyrion is some great acting!

Yea, because last time a Stark was held at 'ransom' in King's Landing and they came to negotiate in good faith, that turned out so well for them.
