Installing macOS Catalina on unsupported 2010 iMac with GTX 765M (+ first impressions)

Good afternoon, I really liked your video, look at my Sierra system, I changed the Nividia gtx 765 video card, I made a Catalina flash drive for installation, but when I boot and press the opition key to select the flash drive, it doesn't work and there's a black screen that doesn't open I don't know what to do can you help me

Hi MacintoshMen how did you fix the brightness control on Catalan and the picture movement? what patch did you removed as you mentioned in your video but did not show it how to fix it? How you will show it clearly again. Thanks

Does this run okay? I want to upgrade my 2010 Mac to Mojave or Catalina but I know people who have upgraded an unsupported Mac in the past & have ran into problems.

I think installing Windows will make it a great Windows pc . Or Ubuntu or fedora if u wish

I did it guys! somewhere I read that someone had connected a TPLINK adapter wifi dongle and after that the iMac wifi receiver was enabled in Catalina. Indeed, I installed a Quadro K1100m on my iMac 27 "11,3 Mid 2010, I made Nick's flash (D) and installed Catalina without the automated patch when installing, then I ran the patcher deactivating Legacy Video drivers and activated Legacy Audio drivers as MacintoshMen did. When I returned everything ran fantastic, except that there is no wifi. What I did was connect my iPhone via USB to the iMac with the option "share wifi" so that it works as a wifi dongle I surfed for a couple of minutes and then turned off the iMac. When I returned, the native Wi-Fi of the iMac was already activated. Apparently when connecting the iPhone via USB "wakes up the Wi-Fi functions" of the iMac and everything is resolved!

I'm curious to see how much shorter the video card life is with all the extra acceleration. Macs in that age range are notorious for burning up video cards.

@MacintoshMen, My iMac is behaving the same way as yours. I need to reset the PRAM. What options should I mark on the post install? I have an iMac 12.2 - 27 "Mid 2011 - GPU GTX 770M.

Man i love you, i am buying an EMC 2389 imac since i had to sell my laptop, and it was a cheap choice...but i was a bit sad that i could only run High Sierra, i will save some money, buy the i7 870 and the GTX 765M...so i can work this upgrade. If i ever make some videos to show the procedure in spanish i will link yours.

So I upgraded to the k4100m did the .rom for it but when i downloaded the Dos dude patched I got screen glitches and frame drops. How do I remove the auto patcher like you did?

A hackintosh is probably less problematic - Especially with premade Efis :p
