Toriel is called as such because of the word "tutorial" yes, but the name "Ralse" existed in Toby's original idea for Deltarune, which means Toriel is a back-ported name from Asriel, which itself references the Christian/Muslim angel of death Azrael, but is also an anagram of Ralsei.

When Deltarune is over (if I'm alive by then bc cancer sucks), I really want to ask Toby all about this, especially if "Ralse" comes from the truth value "False".

honestly surprised it took you this long to find out Toriel's name is a pun on "tutorial".

My headcanon is that the original Toriel runs home and the Toriel behind the pillar is actually flowey's doing. Since flowey can bring stuff from his past routes he probably puppeteered the corpse of toriel from his old genocide route with his vines and used her to encourage the player to continue through the ruins.

This may sound d weird but there is plenty of evidence to back this up.
