Vietnam is smart. People are smart. Foreigners come in and splash their stronger currency around. While it is good for the vn economy it also increase the standard of living for the locals who dont need the higher costs of living.

Good videos. Can you do some interviews with some retirees and show us how their life is over there. I think testimonials would be very interesting, informative and entertaining. Maybe some of them would not mind showing us where they live. Thanks a lot for reading my query and comment.

Just found your channel, and like the important points you speak of. Could you elaborate more in another video of the average cost to live outside of the big cities for two retirees sharing a 2 bedroom modest home along with all utilities/grocery/phone etc costs per month in dollars? On average...not luxury living or eating. Nightlife not important. Thanks, from Canada. Seriously wanting to leave this soon to be communist country here.

As an American citizen, I used to live in HCMC. I taught 6th and 8th graders maths and science full time. I unfortunately got locked out by the pandemic during a two-week trip to USA. I now live in the Philippines. But there are no opportunities to teach here, and there are several other things that make the Philippines unsuitable to me. I would love to return to Vietnam but at age 66 I am having difficulties getting a TRC. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks!

Do you know what would be the age requirement, for whenever they plan to make the Vietnam retirement visa available? I know that you have to be at least 50 to get the retirement visa in Thailand, but what about Vietnam?

Most US & Australian & Canadian citizen with Vietnamese background retirees could not afford to retire in Vietnam 's big city, just enough to retire in the remote villages of Vietnam.

They don’t want foreigners to retire there so why bother there are many other countries to retire that are very reasonable to live and residency is a simple process .😊

They need to make it easier, I am not going to invest $130k in a country where I dont speak the language and is essentially a corrupt developing country, thats why its so cheap, but the RISK of financial failure is extremely high in countries with those conditions, but apart from that have no desire to start a business at my age. Just not attractive, next.

Seriously retiring in Vietnam isn't even an option even now in 2023 unless you marry into the country which it self is a WHOLE new world of drama and things to consider
Vietnam has NEVER offered a means of retirement and back in the 90's to 2018 the ways people stayed long term were of 2 means, Marriage or paper companies which the NEW preisdent during CVD made very clear are no longer allowed to be opened thus CUT off just about all Business visas and long term

BUt all jokes aside being all over Asia and from the west I am, than to consider retiring in the chaos of VIetnam is a bit far fetched as something to do. It is cheap sure, but so is Cuba, Main land China, central Mexico and Africa....there is a reason for that it cost at a cost of sanity, health, and stress levels :)

I always suggest people to move here live for 6 to 12 months than really think about it more, if you search online you RARELY ever find westerns living in VIetnam ovelry happy jumping for joy that are on their 7+ year mark. THere are some yes i can name 4 right now but its ULTRA rare compared to people doing the same in the first 12 months

Vietnam is an amazing new adventure to see, the life style is free - you can litterly buy yourway out of anything, women flock for you (Your money mostly, if you say no your blind), the food is way different and its bold in taste (Some of my fav is here) and again everything is so cheap its crazy.
2k a month in the states is rent, for when i was living in Vietnam as a Minimalistic person, i could do 2k for 3 to 4 months and live better than any Vietnamese around me and better than 80% of westerns..

Secret, stop drinking and rent housing from locals not agents
I had a 7 bedroom house in Binh Thuan Saigon 4 years ago i paid 14 million a month we used as an "AirBNB" thing yeah it was for work but still if i went though an agent this would be about 39 million a month and it was as we found it by an agent and searched out the owner directly and the difference of cost was the agent fee 100%

Anyways, sorry to rant but if you are considering retiring in Vietnam, 1 know its not legally possibl and it has NEVER BEEN POSSIBLE without getting married, i confused why this lawyer over the years keeps avoiding that statement. But also consider the life style, VIetnam is a culture shock and a whole new world for western but it can burn you down over time.

Image living in LA, california, or Bronx, NY.its amazing fun and great time but over time you just want some quite, chill, family time what ever...and sadly the only way to get it is to fly to a nother city or country.....as CA/NY/VN do NOT offer that

I would like to retire in DaNang, living in a condo with ocean view, with pool and gym. Would $2K a month be enough to cover other expenditures, e.g. internet, electricity, etc ?

I’m renewing my passport, hoping that Vietnam will issue more generous visa requirements after Tet. I hope they do make those changes, Vietnam is my first choice as a retirement home. Thank you for the update!👍

As someone who has been retired years in Saigon I can’t agree more that it is a great place to retire I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the World.
However I was lucky that I had married a Vietnamese otherwise that option isn’t available to most of the world’s population.
They should come up with a retirement visa however they should make it fairly strict with proven assets and income so that Vietnam doesn’t end up with all the garbage of the world .
20 years ago no one would want to live in Vietnam but it is getting to the point that it is better then the west and Vietnam will end up with undesirable people from the hell holes of the world you can see it starting now .Malaysia had a good retirement scheme however they changed it now that you have to show retirement income of 80,000 USD a year out of reach for many .Thailand has more reasonable requirements and I know a few retirees that are getting tired of going every 30 days to the Moc Bia border to get fleeced and are considering Thailand even though they love Vietnam more .
The one thing that one thinks when they hear the word retire is you worked hard all your life you have a pension and passive income already so that you can sit back and smell the roses .
Last thing you think of is traveling to the other side of the world to invest in some kind of business.
I am afraid recent events has muddied the waters as far as investing any money in Vietnam.
The 2nd richest person in Vietnam a billionaire the Vietnamese Chinese business lady has been arrested and it’s not clear the crime but could end up in jail for a very long time and many around her are committing Jeffery Epstein’s in Jail .
She is a big fish well connected to the Ho Chi Minh government yet she gets pinched what do you think they do to the small fishes ?
I would recommend men to come and find a nice girl to marry and if you are already married perhaps dump your wife and come to Vietnam for a upgrade 😉

Fresh air in Saigon and hanoi? Your kidding me the air is a toxic sludge everyday. All the foreigners I know leave after a while due to chronic diseases caused by pollution, I had severe Brutus everyday and my kid got asthma and severe lung infections all the time. One evening I went out with a friend in hanoi and the air was so toxic that when we got home we vomited all night. If you value your health don’t live in a large viet city, it’s dangerous and unhealthy and you will get chronic diseases.
