Portrait of a Lady on Fire is the ninth film I watched in my Great Directors class. For this being exactly my 1000th log in my diary based on how Letterboxd made their system (FUCKING CRAZY!!!), I pick up on the fact that if going from watching childhood movies over and over again to “Expanding My Horizon” thanks to one of my brothers saying that has taught me anything, it’s that’s you can make a movie about anything as long as you make it interesting in some way and I’m glad I’ve come this far in this part of storytelling. More reviews are coming!!!

It’s been four years and I’m still waiting for her to tell me to turn around, this movie takes us to our own stories, the saddest but there was a life in it 💕

I found this film by chance . I'm your average male whose not really into French period romantic films, but, after watching it I can honestly say that I've never been so affected emotionally by a film.
I can't stop thinking about the love and chemistry between the two characters. Best film ever made and not a male character in sight, fantastic .....all men should watch this film

This was one of the most boring movies I have ever watched. The photography was mediocre, the sound editing was harsh and barren. The acting was poor and amateurish. There was no chemistry, no story. If it had not been about lesbians, there would be no story at all. But lesbians and homosexuality are very cool and stylish right now, and I suppose that's why this movie got some attention. If you like lesbian movies, "Room in Rome" was much better.

If you are looking for another movie to watch, I would recommend " The Handmaiden"...

Anybody else cried when She sees her portrait at the end and she's holding that book where you can see the exact page number 28, that scene made me deeply sad and i couldn't control my tears 😭

This was such an astonishingly good movie. Every single scene was so enthralling, I was glued to screen the entire time. It did not even need a soundtrack to help it create an atmosphere and evoke an emotional response from me. Easily the best lgbt movie I've ever watched.

The mistake I made I haven't even move on from the movie Disobedience 2017, but I watched this movie without a doubt, And yeah this movie just killed my lil heart. made me cry all night after watching it.

that shot of Heloise’s hood falling to reveal the back of her hair and the subsequent reveal of her face as she turns are two of my favorite shots in the film. so striking and mysterious.
