delta loop can work very good. can have some direction to it. I have seen them phased. To help with loading use some kind of VNA with a smith chart . may just be a slight wire length thing or close to ground or coupling to some outher antenna near buy. Can just be the length of feed line. it is working great . Cheers !

Just got Moscow, Russia on side band running 100W on ICOM IC7300 and my new DX Commander Signature 12.4!! All the way from New Mexico, US it was around 5900 miles 🤩🤩

Been 40 Delta Loop fan for many years, mine is inverted triangle with feedpoint at the bottom, the "base" of the antenna, tied between 2 tall Pine trees up about 45 feet, feedpoint is easy access about 4 feet up the ground, using torroid match between my coax and the 150 ohm impedance antenna. Works great, and incredibly quiet...

Also on my 40 meter delta loop configuration here, I have recently installed (for the winter months) two insulated NVIS reflector wires laying flat on the ground, underneath this Loop, each wire is 20 meter (1/2 wavelength) in length, this really enhanced the close in NVIS signals by an easy S Unit. After the winter season will have to pick these NVIS wires up . They are simply tied between 2 tent stakes, they are about 15 feet apart in parallel on the the ground... I hear everybody on this antenna, it seems like all the "end fed" antenna guys are always complaining about "noise" on 40 meters but I just don't hear it here. If you can't hear them, you can't work them, is the phrase that comes to mind.... 73
