Whats with the wet timing belt?? Seems insane
ОтветитьWhat a HACK job. literally
they are in the toilet as a brand yet the mainstream is ignoring it. Oh well. Subaru fell apart starting about 10 years ago. We went to test drive one and i knew at that time, oh no not good. Then the recalls. Ford with the recalls too. Many brands have problems it's just how many and how quick. And then what the fix is. When Nissan said no more transmissions for you. Here's cash. Products in general life are falling apart. Just wade through and find the better than usual ones.
Nice work showing this very clearly.
ford always fails to impress me :D
ОтветитьI went to ford service about my moms 2014 escape 1.6, asking if her car qualified for any coolant intrusion tsb's. Apparently, our car does not qualify for the tsb, but the fusion of 2014 with 1.6 does!??
Anyway, long story short, i went after a p0303 misfire cyl 3. While going after the plugs, #2 plug had the threads all jacked up (barely got it out). Chased the threads, install new plug. Ended up breaking #3, so im in middle of extraction as we speak.
Ive been adding about 12oz water every 45 to 60 days. I dunno what to say. Car got 70k, book is like 5k ish... im gonna try t9 get this last plug buttoned up, then punt this escape
Ford's answer to the Chevy Vega.
ОтветитьIs this the same engine as the Ford Focus MK3.5 uses for their 1.5L Ecoboost from 2014 till 2019?
ОтветитьEcoboom engine.
ОтветитьWith Ford's many Eco Boost engines, and the current CEO, Ford is on the way down. So sad.
ОтветитьGot screwed with this. Had a 2016 Escape, 2.0. Got the dreaded Cat Contaminated code (P420), but had to get rid of it as we have emission checks in Texas. Car was in beautiful shape but at 150K the Dealer only gave us 3K on the trade in for a new one, as he knew right away the motor was scrap. Bastards. What is really bad is I did have some coolant draw down issues for quite a while but as we are in 100 degree summers, hoped it could be the heat. It might have been prior to my 100K extended warranty sunset, not sure.
ОтветитьWhat the hell y'all talking about? I have a 2.0l Ecoboost and it has over 150,000 miles on it. People just don't do regular maintenance on their cars any more. And don't trust anything these goddamn "techs" tell you. Ive made a fool out of their stupid asses everytime!
ОтветитьNormal, normal, oh dear God. xD
Saludos
ОтветитьAnother fix could be using the actual bigger block. 2.5 or 2.7L engine will give them more power with last boost pressure from the turbo.
ОтветитьAnd yet I will never buy a Ford or Chevy. Japanese will always be the best....CAUSE THEY TEST EVERYTHING!! 😅
ОтветитьYeah... Ford meaning: Fix Or Repair Daily
Ответитьwe have a 2.0l Ecoboost with 270k miles on the original drivetrain. Just a turbo, water pump replacement so far
ОтветитьBecause nothing will ever plug up the holes allowing coolant to flow between the heads. I can't see any issues with that overheating and causing issues in the future.
ОтветитьSeems when you buy a new car today you're the beta tester for 99% of what you bought. Too bad they don't still make the 300 CID straight 6. I'd buy one today. You'll never get me to buy this eco-crap.
ОтветитьWhat is the difference in the 2016 2.0 that allows them to not have this issue?
ОтветитьDesigned obsolescence. Trust me it starts at the top and goes all the way to the bottom ... with every manufacturer...
Ответитьdoes the 2021 explorer 2.3 eco have the cross drill block or slit across between the cylinders?
Ответитьyou said 2017 do you know about the 2016s or was this an 17 to 19 problem
ОтветитьBrian: I drove Ford trucks for 40 years. I bout a 96 "power joke" & it was an absolute piece of junk
I bought a 97 Ram 2500 with the Cummins 6BT 12 valve & "P" pump. Best truck I have ever owned.
I have watched your videos since day one , & wish the world had more mechanics like you. I do most of my own work (I am NOT a mechanic but I have had many people over the years have me diagnose problems
that shops couldn't) At 84 years of age I pay to have certain work done , since it is more than I want to deal with. I am considering a new pickup, but having watched your innumerable videos of Ford trucks that seemingly ALL have incredible faults & with HUGE repair bills, I am moved to ask if there is any Ford F150 4X4 that is reliable ? If the 300ci in line 6 was available, I would buy a new F150 tomorrow !
Seriously Brian, you are a straight shooter, & I would be interested in hearing what you have to say about a new Ford that is reliable. I have well over 1,000,000 miles on my Dodge diesel, with no serious problems over the years, but so few parts have been replaced that I don't want to make long trips in it, since the likelihood of a breakdown enroute becomes greater every mile. I would appreciate any suggestions you may care to offer. Keep up the good work Sir !
Cheers!, Brian
Revenge of the bean counters!
ОтветитьIt's nice to know that Ford fixed the problem in 2020. Makes me feel better because I'm looking at purchasing a 2020 + Ford edge.
ОтветитьWe are taking our 2017 Ford Edge Titanium into the mechanic on the 18th of Sept, 2023 for this exact same issue. Have a couple of questions, if possible:
1. What year has the most updated version of the engine fix?
2. Is there a serial # or any other form of identification # we can get from either the mechanic or our paperwork showing which updated engine we received?
The mechanic is replacing the long block, turbo, water pump, tension pulley and several other parts & belts.
Thank you in advance for any info that may help us.
For any Ranger owners out there having a mini heart attack like I did, you are safe. ALL 5th gen Rangers have the updated 2.3L 👍
ОтветитьAll by Design.. The Agenda is Obvious.
ОтветитьWhen it comes to FoMoCo Im keeping the 368 y block and the 7,3idi. Newer are of no interrest
ОтветитьMy 2017 Escape suffered this defect with only 49,000 miles! Very disappointing when a loyal customer spends $35k on a vehicle and 49 thousand miles later has to spend another $10k on the repair!
ОтветитьI watched the torture tests of the 2.0 eco. Unstoppeable. I bought a fusion 2.0 awd new. 98,500 now and not a single thing wrong with it. Amazing engine. And still purrs like a kitty.
ОтветитьThank to engineer I can make extra money
ОтветитьI notice you did not call out the 3.5 Ecoboost. As an owner of a 2017 3.5 I am curious about the long term issue I should watch for...
ОтветитьI am currently working on one of these (again) what did you have to do to make the newer block fit? Was it a direct swap or did some parts need to be changed around?
ОтветитьSince this could be a potential warranty fix by the dealer and or a profit for the dealer if out of warranty, are the dealers just slapping on the same head gasket and moving on, or did Ford Engineering come up with a repair for when one of these comes in for repair?
ОтветитьSo what happens when the tiny drilled holes in the newer version get clogged up???
ОтветитьOne of the many reasons I tell people not to buy ford products..if they can ever get their crapola together over at ford to the point a 100k mile warranty is offered things might get better but the rubber timing belts in oil, failed blocks , failed turbos etc are just plain stupid and cheap.
ОтветитьFord has gotten to be junk lately!
Ответитьit was the same with 5cyl turbo volvo blocks... but those cracked the cyl walls... and ford used it in focus RS mk2 near 2010.... so they didnt learn...
ОтветитьGreat info!!
Great video!!!
Thank you!!
Thanks!
Ответитьmine is working great. its a 2013.
ОтветитьTurbo motors are touchy I would never own a domestic turbo car or truck. Domestic quality is trash and turbo just shows it up fast. the japanese know how to make turbo vehicles that last. I will not own any turbo but japanese, their experience building high revving heat soaked small motorcycle engines taught them well. Turbo engine run extremely hotter than non turbo. Only thing close is high revvin motorcycles, no one does it better than japan. Look at all their 4 and 6 cyl turbos that are fast powerful and last as long as any nonturbo domestic and then some.
ОтветитьIt is a ford of course it is designed to fail. Fail on regular date
ОтветитьHey Brian. Great video…as always. So how do we get Ford to fix this on their dime? Just stuck? This seems like how Ford likes to handle these types of issues. Warranty work, recalls/tsb failures, etc seem to get dragged around and the dealer punisher the customer. Around Metro Detroit it’s all compounded by all the Ford employees and of course the power the Metro Detroit Dealers Ass sic has
ОтветитьSo could you put the 2016 or the 2020 engines in the 2017?
Ответитьthis vid saved my life. ford focus 180ps . warranty expired with 110k miles on old engine. we have succuss get the whole new engine for free. refer to lasted TSB.
ОтветитьMy 2016 ecoboost block must have cracked, it used coolant
ОтветитьFORD =Fix Or Repair Daily
