Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

This game was so damn difficult as a kid playing it. Playing it now makes me want to rip the hair out of my scrotum. Nintendo really out did there selves with this one.

wow. only zelda game I skipped over. thought it was a sidescroll platformer but this is some real ... like they put everything they had available into this game. took the og TLOZ and added mario and final fantasy. truly epic... only bummer is I am spoiling it for myself now while watching!

I am so glad people are finally opening their eyes to this game Zelda 1 and 2 and Wizardry 2 Knight Of Diamonds and Hillsfar and Deja Vu wonderful graphics and the music is all worth while true classics that are the best games of the NES I am glad to own these great games.

The first Zelda game I owned but never played it. My older brother played it but never beaten it. The furthest he ever gotten was Thunderbird. Maybe someday I will beat it.

Nothing can touch the classic Zelda games, even with 8-bit graphics you could totally imagine being Link going through dungeons to save the Princess and to defeat Ganon....like someone said earlier, this truly shows how graphics arent everything to make a game great...its the gameplay itself and the way everything is setup! Only other game I got similar feelings to my 1st time playing The Legend Of Zelda, is when I got to play Ys: Books I&II off the TurboGraFX for my first time and luckily this wasnt even that long ago but it definitely brought back that nostalgic feel of exploration like Zelda games did for me!

Those orange armor guys gave me a hard time, I almost bet that first palace but those guys too hard to kill.

I still have the Gold cartridge it came on. Interesting game, not for every Zelda fan, but it was different in a good way.

After i recently replayed Zelda 2 (via the Redux romhack which i highly recommend) i have a theory on why Nintendo never made another game in this style outside the obvious fan backlash. It's because post Zelda 2 there has been A SHITTON of sidescrolling exploration style games in the market, especially nowadays with indies and stuff.
I feel like for Nintendo to make a successor to Zelda 2 they'd have to flip the genre on its head, spice it up with something new you know? Like didn't Miyamoto or someone else said the reason we don't have a new F-Zero is because they legit don't know what to do with it aka "Oh shit GX was too awesome!"?
And in regards to the Metroidvania genre think it's super hard to come up with something new and exciting because Indies have been doing this for years now. It's not just about one upping the "big boys" (Super Metroid and SotN) who already "perfected" the formula.
This is just about Nintendo pushing their creativity because i too would be just fine with a "Zero Mission" style remake or something with less clunky controls and some goddamn checkpoints especially for the Great Palace or should i say the freaking path to the Great Palace. Then again we have awesome romhacks like "Redux" which already shows how great Zelda 2 can be if balanced right.
