The AT2035, AT4040 and AT4050 are especially great microphones.

I think the AT4040 sounds the best.

personally don’t like the at2020 the noise floor becomes so apparent when u start mixing it almost becomes like a ringing whistle if u listen hard enough

Hmm. All Audio technica stuff? I don't think they're the 'best' for home recording at all. There are much better options.

No difference in any of them until you get to the 4033. Save your money kids and jut buy the 2020.

Indeed the 4040 sounds the best though 2035 impressed me too. Didn't expect that sound for the price.

I prefer the AT4033. Having owned two since they were released in 1991ish. I also have vintage u67, km86i, AT4060, AT4050, Rode Classic II, Rode TF-5 pair (my new favorite instrument mic....beats Vintage KM86i), Warm U87r2, wa-251, wa-67, and WA47). My all around fav is 4033 (at least the vintage ones, when the components were more discreet). And listening here it is clear that all the 40 series just shine compared to the AT20 series. Inside the AT40 series you'll find top quality polypropylene/polystyrene and Nichicon Muse caps...which may be part of the reason for the shine.

I bought AT2020 using it with M audio m track solo interface but the input signal is too low has to increase gain knob upto 9.5 point to record vocal. Phantom power is ON. No issue with BM800 Microphone, only issue with AT2020. Please help if it is my AT2020 issue so that i can return it before the return policy ends. Thank you.
