If you're a iphone user then Apple TV is WAY Better than others because you can seemlessly screen share aka stream from your phone to the tv. I purchased a Amazon Fire Stick 4k and I was super upset that in order to screen share from my phone I needed to download an app and the app wanted to charge me monthly!! That's why I only buy Apple, It Just Works...

I don’t know why I waited so long to get an Apple TV but it is EASILY the best set top box on the market. Hands down. I’ve had Roku, Chromcast, Google TV, Firestick and Nvidia Shield. Apple TV simply does it faster, cleaner, nothing clunky, integration with Apple products is amazing. It’s like you’re sitting there thinking… I wonder did they think to do this…. Like the iPhone… Yes they did. Well what about my AirPods… yea that too. Etc. Then there’s the Apple TV app that can read watch history across all apps too.

I hope Apple is paying you. You’ve sold this thing to me already and I’m only at the Siri functionality.

The new AppleTV is compatible with the QNap NAS. I digitized the videos of the kids and and stream them from the QNap in the basement to the TV in the living room.

Let’s talk some more about the library. Have used Apple TV since they first came out. The digital library that I’ve built up over the years now is STILL the number one place all members of the fam go to for movies (and old TV favorites) we bought. They can’t be bothered to look at any of our streaming services and search for anything. Those are only for new content. Lol. They just go direct to our Apple TV library and play. We don’t buy as much as we did in the past, but we still will buy new favorites in iTunes and skip the Netflix and Prime and etc. versions. The convenience and peace of mind that they are always there, easily accessible, and playable - much like the old school DVDs - is worth it to us.

Downloading and logging into streaming apps on the Apple TV is so much faster than on my fire stick 4K. With my fire stick it took me probably 15 minutes or more to download everything then go to a website on my computer. With the Apple TV I think it was 5 minutes or less to do everything

Is there a way to hide the small profile bar inn the top right corner. I have to admit I really don’t like it being on the screen all the time.

Nice little tip, but if you double tap the remote (no click) while the video progress bar is visible it will tell you what time it is and how late it will be when the video is complete.

I wish I could use the touch scroll wheel like how a scrub wheel on an iPod used to function. Just goes left and right. Way better than whatever this option is.

Recently we tried FaceTime - LOVED it.

Beta user as well. It’s been solid software…the hardware…the new remote is SO much better…BUT…I purchased a thin silicon case for it which makes it a little “stickier” - less likely to slip out of my hands or in between couch cushions…it also makes it easier to see.

I thought there are somethings amazing or extraordinary that you're going show us about the apple tv, turns out it just a very comprehensive review of apple tv

hello, thanks for sharing your information on the apple tv 4k box , before i purchased this box i am sure i read something about this being a very nice game console and was able to buy a microsoft controller ... i did not buy the controller .. yet.. because i have not be able to find any games yet .. would it be possible to give more information on how to install games and how to control them with a controller ?? this would really help .. so far this apple box has not really impressed me i really thought i was buying a game console and this would really enternatine me but none of that so far .. perhaps i just dont know what i ma doing .. thanks for reading greets Mak :)

Just purchased a Hisense U8K and am looking for the streaming device to go along with it. I don't do any gaming and don't have a home theater sound system. I'm down to the Apple TV and NVIDIA Shield. Thank you for the informative and well done video.

I hate it when people use the word “content”, it makes them sound like a marketing wonk.

You missed what I mainly use the Apple TV for. I have a ton of movies on my MacBook, I use the Apple TV (with two paired HomePod mini’s) as an extended screen for my MacBook and play the movies on my large screen TV via the Apple TV box. The combo of the Big Screen and HomePod Mini’s is fab.
You do need the 4K to get the HomePods working I believe.

when I click and hold on an app, I don't get the menu you get. It starts jiggling and then I have to press pause/play button for options.

The apple remote simply misses some buttons like the red one for recording, one for info and fast forward/backwards.

Have two of these. They're bad. They're just a bad product. They have about as much integration with the ecosystem as a Roku at five times the price. Every year I hope they'll do things like proper user profiles / screen time / touchID / content aggregation among apps. Two of these (users and screen time) are just bugs - there are users in tvOS but they've never worked - anyone can switch to anyone elses user profile at anytime without a code (even if they have different age restrictions). Even the fire stick has been able to search across subscriptions for years - Apple should be able to force this better than anyone else and it's just a mess because they haven't. Restrictions on the App Store mean certain services just aren't available for no good reason (like game streaming or even in-house console streaming beyond Steam). I utterly regret the purchase and would have been far better off just buying a couple of £25 Roku express 4k devices. Screen Time is especially egregious because it completely undermines the Screen Time on other devices too - there's no point in restricting content or times on an iPad if the Apple TV will just let you bypass it because it was never implemented.

Does anyone know how to stream content stored on a hard drive attached to a mac to the apple TV?

I’ve owned many appleTVs since gen 1. I liked the internal hard drive as I kept certain files for offline use (sleep music etc). Currently have 2 4K models, and an HD as well. Have purchased at least 6 for family members over the years as well. Just an all around great device. We have a flagship Sony. A9G 4K OLED master Bravia and have not connected it to our WiFi as we prefer the UI on the aTV.

The Apple TV is an interesting piece of hardware, but there is a lot that makes it not a good choice. First there is the price: too expensive. Then there are all the restrictions that are typical for apple. Biggest restriction: no browser. And no, the reason is not a "bad user experience", the reason is simply that you can not go to an "alternative" streaming website. They want you to pay via AppleTV subscription or netflix or prime or etc. I am actually surprised that tutorial doesn't include apple arcade. the apple tv is actually a nice video game console, and that's also probably the reason why it is so expensive. you DONT need big hardware just for a steraming device. it would even be possible to shrink apple tv down to a stick (similar like amazon does). but there is no way anyone would pay more than 49 EUR for this stick. and I guess apple wants to chage as much as possible (aka "milking the client"). What do you think? Am I wrong? Right?

Good morning. I have watched many of your posts with great interest. There are a few ‘you are doing this wrong’ posts. Well, I’m doing something wrong as I don’t get anything going in to my Junk Mail and anything I save to a Personal folder just seems to disappear never to be seen again. My question is, “are there any setting that I can’t find that hide/mask or otherwise immediately delete messages into certain folders”. It’s driving me potty. I have tried to reset passwords for sites which have the correct details but they don’t turn up at my Inbox or Junk. HELP, please.

On screen savers, when I use my own photos, there is a bug where a black photo shows up in the screen saver. It’s so annoying and they haven’t fixed it for multiple versions of TVos.

How did you do after searching with Siri “squid game” to get the open with Netflix option??? Even in tvos 17, Netflix is not integrated with tv app.. I cannot get it to suggest Netflix shows on Siri

I use mine to put the screen of my laptop up on the home theatre screen (mirroring) so I can have my eyes focus at a different distance for awhile!
