Which Camera Brand Color is Best: Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic, or Leica?

Bring their old legends like 5d 1,6d1,nikon d700,xt1..then it will be great..modern cameras aren't that different i think.

Nikon has the MOST boring colors, follow by Sony

Tried to do the blind test myself, surprisingly without knowing the brand I leaned towards C/B (later found to be Canon, Nikon) ; had a glance at Sony's , felt it was nice but maybe a bit too vivid and decided to revert back to Nikon/Canon. Surprised that without knowing the brand, I still leaned towards C/B , which is reflective of my real life camera choices - these are all personal taste of course

A lot of great comments in here, but I have to be a bit skeptical how some claim to be able to ‘spot’ their particular Camera Brand. There are so many variables, and whilst Andrew did an admirable job here, all of those images thrown together makes it harder to discern, VS just an ‘A-B’ Comparison.

I have and still shoot with Canon/ Nikon/ Fuji/ and LUMIX. At the end of the Day, all modern cameras are capable of producing great photos, as many have pointed out here. They are all very close.

My preferences were all ‘over the map’ with some. I’m dealing with a PVD in my dominant eye right now, so my Vision is challenged some. I will say, and agree, with a few in here, that I liked the Panny colors. Do keep in mind the highly vaulted Nikon D700 camera used a sensor produced by Matsushita!

My own takeaway is this: Fuji has some great profiles, but their images can suffer from the ‘wormy’ effect in some landscape photos. Watch out for that dreaded Cyan sky! Skin textures, and tint, can be 
a challenge at times, but I still love my Fuji’s.

Canon is beloved by many Wedding/Portrait photographers. I think this comes down to the warming of colors, and the JPEG engine emphasizing the Red tones, in faces. Watch out for that Magenta cast, i.e. 5D3! 5D4 seemed to solve that, albeit a little cool. I’ve only had experience with the EOS ‘R’ on their new RF series. That sensor is NOT as good as the one in my 5D4.

Nikon, which I’ve shot for many years, has a great following of fans. Nikon is known for their really good dynamic range, and I think they have some of the best metering out there. Although lately I have had a hard time with White balance on my Z7. There IS a ‘green cast’s on some images. Be careful when doing a portrait shoot. Landscapes, hard to beat Nikon.

I love my G9, and enjoy picking it up to shoot. Yeah, yeah, M4/3, I get it. But the IBIS is exceptional, and when combined with a LUMIX lens with IS, it’s incredible. Most of the time, I really like the output I get from that camera. I have shots of our cats, and Dog, at ISO’s up to 6400, and you can easily count their whiskers! The 20.2 megapixel sensor more than holds its own.

End of the Day, go with what You like and most importantly, go with the brand that has a great selection of Lenses. Most importantly, GO, go, and take some PHOTOS !!! 😊👍🙏

Surprisingly I leaned more towards Nikon as well. In the future though, please make the test a little different. The slide through the pictures was both low res and jarring. Just put the collage first, and then the pictures one after another, then back to the collage. Thanks for doing this test! 🙏🏻 Much appreciated.

I shoot Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Olympus/Panasonic, and Leica brand cameras.

I see no significant color differences in my images or in the images in this video.

It looks picking any brand is not important

As a 37 year Nikon shooter, I too was surprised. The last 4 Nikon digital cameras I have owned have all had that color punch. That is consistent with the comments I get back from people who view my work. "I can't believe the color.", "Wow your pictures are so bright and rich.", "The details are so distinct and colorful." are comments I have received on Nikon shot photos. Sure I am a proud fan boy, so save your flame. 🤣🤣🤣

Interrelating test I chose Nikon 85% of time.

It was very difficult to choose the one I liked the most, so I picked the one I didn't like: the most frequent were Fuji, Panasonic, Leica. The ones I liked the most: Canon, Sony and Nikon.

I sold my Canon R5 to get a Leica M. Canon was my favorite for this test, and Leica was my least favorite! LOL.

I'm going to buy soon the first mirrorless camera - Nikon Z5 or Z6ii. I watched your blind test and I chose B - Nikon. Thanks.

Wooow, this was interesting! Surprising how close the colors are, save for some having a very faint green or magenta cast. Where they seem to differentiate more, to my eye, seems to be in their tonal rendering. I've used Nikon quite a bit and that's what impresses me most with their output - the tonal rendering of their raw files just looks so dang good, straight out of camera. Haven't ever owned or shot with a Sony, but i picked it as first more often than any other model. And when I pool together my first, second and third picks, I choose Nikon way more often than other brands. Andrew, and others, what are your thoughts on whether our perceived differences are as much tonal rendering, as color tones?

Thank you for this 😊 As a Nikon shooter for over 20 years I wasn't surprised to see Nikon in my top two... I picked the Fuji skin tones too, but as a predominantly landscape shooter, I was really surprised Sony was my second choice 🎉

...did you use "auto white balance"? and generally the f<uji Astia profile per se is a little bit muted and not intended to be use as a general color profile... and another small observation: after this side by side comparison I understood what people mean when they talk from the "Leica Pop": the colors really are too stark in most situations and for most subjects.. a kind of artificial blending. For me subjectively the Panasonic colors are a good balance between too much and too less..

For me Nikon and Fuji have the best colors, but is not a big difference. I have Sony APSC and I don't like the colors, but it's easily fixed in post. Any camera have good enough color rendition today, and for me there are other important things: price, availability, lenses, easy workflow for photo and video, even noise rendition is more important than color for me (not amount, but rendition, a blotchy noise pattern or banding is a no go for me, but there are cameras with noise that is very pleasing). Maybe in a near future I will migrate to Nikon or Fuji, because there are more third party lenses and adapters now and that was the reason to go with Sony first and deep in my heart I never liked Sony 😂. I simply don't enjoy shooting Sony for ergonomics mostly and that's very important.

I got Fuji and Leica right. I just know. There’s something filmic about their colors. I also like the colors on Canon.

I was between ABC the whole entire time. For majority I liked B the best, but a few times I did prefer A and C too. The others are decent too but it was mostly ABC.

my favorites were E, F, and C in that order. E and F are almost tied.

I picked F first of them all and then C. I loved that it is both the systems that I have currently.

I didn't skip to be honest to myself. I use Canon, but I anticipated that I will picking Nikon's color the most before the test, but surprisingly I ended up with F as the most preferred, then B,C,D were tied, then E, and I didn't pick A at all.. So Fuji? Hmmm...

I'm new to this and for jpegs I preferred Fuji and Canon, Fuji slightly ahead; For raws it seems I love Fuji, dislike Leica, and the other 4 were negligible ties. My method was averaging, then preference. If 4 photos agreed on a level of green luminance, or some other color detail, I isolated those as more "correct", and the other two would be on the backburner. I tried to average as much as I could, then picked the one I liked best. My inherent bias would be using Apple products so their cameras and whatever colors they choose.

For me Nikon was 1st, then 2nd came Sony.

At the end of the day none of these cameras look dramatically different from each other. I think the statement of saying Canon has the best color is pretty much outdated. Even at pausing the comparisons I can hardly tell the difference in actual "colors" the only obvious difference are each brands interpretation of what exactly "white" looks like as there are extremely slight differences in tints. But when you compare red and red and blue and blue, they're all basically the same at least in my opinion.

I liked the punchier images from Nikon and Sony, sometimes I also liked the Fuji images. As long as you shoot RAW, color is not the deciding factor I think. I shoot Fuji, but with noticeable RAW editing, so it really doesn't matter. The look and feel is way more important for me. Nice test!

Wow! I liked B the most! F & E in some shots were very good though. I am surprised that I didn't pick a single canon shot!

I have to watch this again I like D, E & A in most of test, suprise to see them, I thought one them would be Fuji but its Leia, Sony & Panasonic. Strange
