Wonderful technology! Maybe someday we may even discover a method how to get rid of it. It stays in the envirnoment virtually forever, if no bacteria or naturally occuring chemicals are able to decompose it...

I have had about 8 frying pans all teflon and all failed to be non stick apart from a current pan which for some reason has stayed stick free so far

Even though teflon is safe, the other components involved in sticking it to the suface has carcinogenic effects.......hope that helps

wouldnt touch this stuff for cooking anymore. read up on the lawsuits, the documentaries about dupont (cant remember the names, theyll be on google), read up on PFOA and PTFE. Theyve apparently stopped using PFOA but are simply using another similiar chemical from the same group... :/ I use stainless steel and cast iron/enamel cast iron and couldnt be happier...
