Magician Lord cheap?? No way José
ОтветитьLOL the size of the Neo Geo cartridge. Good lord!!!
ОтветитьFunny, I can remember when I was kid the local Wal-Mart (an old school one, not a Super Wal-Mart) had a Neo-Geo MVS2 Mini machine up front near the entrance. As I recall it was basically like a "kid sized" arcade cabinet. They only ever put one game on it which was one of the Baseball Stars games. Somehow I wound up figuring out that you could get a free credit if you unplugged it and plugged it back in so I actually wound up getting pretty good at it.
ОтветитьI only have one AES game. The rest I own are digital, are physical retro collections, modern collections, and limited edition re-releases.
ОтветитьI love dude's Snake Plissken shirt. Fuck that's good.
ОтветитьJust a little reminder to you,
Neo Geo is more powerful than the ps1 and even the ps2 and dreamcast when it comes to displaying over 100K sprites all in one in the screen for 30 or 60FPS.
Just look at the metal slug on ps1 and then look at the neo geo version and see for yourself.
I can say maybe the dreamcast had some ( some) arcade perfect ports but again a lot of those had sound glitches and jut not as beautiful as their arcade neo geo counterparts. Or even the Noami games looked better in the atomiswave or the noami arcade boards since the noami had 1 Million sprite, and the dreamcast only had 500K sprite capacity. So I would rather play these games on the arcade boards instead of stuff like (Compilation or other wierd console ports). I mean I can say that the ps2 and the ps1 and even the dreamcast were Mainly 3D machines not 2D. Even the Nintendo 64 wasn't realy good at 2D games, because it was primarily a 3D machine. And yes 2D GAMES ARE HARD TO BE RENDERED.
And the Neo Geo was the boss when it came to beautiful sprites and amazing responsive 16-bit Games.
The Wii compilation pulled me back in. Now I play a consolized mvs
ОтветитьI bought a Japanese game "Fire Suplex" and it plays in English on my American AES. The game is called "3 count bout" in English.
ОтветитьFriend bought a system with a box full of carts for 175 bucks
ОтветитьWish I never would have gotten rid of mine
ОтветитьI played them all on an emulator! With an Xbox controller.
ОтветитьI gotta get my hands on a neo geo..so cool
ОтветитьI would love to have an actual NeoGeo but it's just too expensive. I have a modded NeoGeo Mini so I can play all the games I want, but it's just not the same. Plus, the bilinear filter it uses when hooked on TV is ass.
ОтветитьJohn has a COMPLETE nes AND snes set now too. What a legend.
ОтветитьNeogeo is the Lamborghini of Gaming .😅
ОтветитьThis video is hard to watch. I have every single Neo Geo MVS & AES game, (I got them all for free like a smart person), with the best Hori Arcade Stick ever. On top of that, the Neo Geo now has Achievement support thanks to RetroAchievements. So yeah... Enjoy your $6,999 Blazing Star sticker & plastic, I'll actually be enjoying the game for free in 4K. Thanks RetroArch <3
Ответитьgood luck finding a working console that doesn't look like it was used as a frizbee by some rich brat. i dont get why else these machines are beaten when folks paid the equivalent of $1300+ for em brand new in 1991.
honestly, all the ones ive seen on ebay are all deeply scratched and dinged. not the sorta thing you wanna see on a expensive 30 year old machine.
Does anyone know if SNK released a North American Neo Geo AES console or are they all international? If so, what was the model number? Thanks!
Ответитьnow i have emulators we dont need to spend anything . i don't beleive anything is worth than its original retail value, anything , game or cd or book .
ОтветитьCorrection: With unmodded consoles, the region of the games will depend on the console only.
Meaning, you can play Japanese carts on your European or US console in the English language.
Love this guy, he seems like a good buddy.
ОтветитьNeo Geo was over priced and only for the Rich and that's what allures you and myself at times. When it's all said and done if you fork out the dough you soon realize a more modern rendition at a cheaper cost is a better choice especially if you cant maintain it yourself.
ОтветитьJohn shaved his beard
ОтветитьThere's never been a time when the Neo Geo was affordable. And it never will be I guess.
ОтветитьDo a video about the hair wig.
ОтветитьNever heard of this games before wow cool stuff - mat
ОтветитьThe Neo Geo AES was one of my most sought after console. From the sexy look, to the arcade perfect games, large satisfying cartridges, and the arcade like joy sticks, I really wanted this thing. But alas, I can't afford it so I ended up buying a Neo Geo CD with both the Model 2 Joy sticks (two of them) and two of the regular control pads. Games included were Samurai Spirits, KOF 94, and Quiz Fighter. For an extra 130, I picked up King of Fighter 97, 98, some other random game, and Top Hunter (total 730 CAD)! Going to start collecting more and more. Going to focus on my Vita, Saturn, and NeoGeoCd games once I have the chance.
ОтветитьThe Legendary Neo Geo
ОтветитьThey never really touched on it but the NEO GEO was a $650 console system in the early 1990's that came out when the Super Nintendo was on the market for $250 and the Sega Genesis for a similar price. A typical Super Nintendo or Genesis game was $60 to $80. The NEO GEO games were over $200. There is no modern console system that compares in terms of price point. $650 in 1990 money is like $2500 today. Not many people would pay $2500 for a Playstation or X-Box I'm guessing.
ОтветитьBack in the 90s Neo Geo cartridges were already expensive as hell to begin with. Those who bought them that time and still have them now did a hell of an investment
ОтветитьAs a kid, I remember just seeing those prices and not getting it. Yes, it may have been the same quality as a real arcade cabinet, but those were NeoGeo cabinets, which had the cheap games that were like 2 games per quarter. The graphics were nothing compared to most other cabinets. Only as an adult did I come to appreciate Metal Slug, but my local arcade probably didn't even have that one.
ОтветитьFan fact: the Neo Geo is one of the only home consoles where no one has a confirmed full collection (I know that’s also kinda true for Atari but that system had non-approved releases).
ОтветитьThe Neo Geo; from what I have gathered, it is the only system that has never gone down in value at any point. It started expensive, stayed expensive, and will always be expensive.
ОтветитьSnake Pliskiiinnn
ОтветитьBoy completely nerded out
ОтветитьMy grandmother got me a Neo Geo Gold AES system for my birthday back in either 1990 or 1991(I just remember having it before the Terminator 2 movie came out in theaters). I did not get a game for it as often as I did a Genesis or NES/SNES game as Neo Geo AES games retailed for $299/each. About 3 - 4 years later, I traded it with someone for a Sega Genesis + Sega CD + about 300 games. heh... I will say, I regretted getting rid of the thing. ---- However, many many years later, I picked up another complete, boxed Neo Geo AES Gold system off of eBay. I still have that system to this day and considerably more games than I used to have back in the 90's.
On a side note, John talks about how Neo Geo US & JPN games are interchangeable, but the game(s) will run in whatever their native region is. The US Neo Geo AES Gold system I have now does not have a UNIBIOS installed... yet regardless if I play US or JPN games, the games always play in the US language/region. As for Neo Geo games prices, they were becoming expensive when this video was released in 2016... but today(2022), most US(Dog Tag) games start around $300+ and most of the more desirable titles average around $2,000 - $5,000... even then, there's a lot over $10k. There was even a US Metal Slug 1 that sold not that long ago for nearly $60k !!!
what you missed was the Chipset was based on the old Sega Master System, and all they did was PUMP steroids into with more chips, which ballooned the price. It became easy to emulate by 1995, so it's interesting to just collect the hardware.
Also under rated gem. LAST BLADE 2, nice game, plays more like Alpha series, but more interesting involved writer of Deadly Premonition on a fighting game
Time for an update to this video and how insane the prices have gotten. If only the mini didn't suck.
ОтветитьI am actually more used to seeing John Hancock with a beard than I am seeing him without one. XD
ОтветитьI can picture this guy kids or wife selling all his video games and systems for $5000,obo if he died.
ОтветитьIt's 2021 Magician Lord MVS isn't cheap anymore
ОтветитьI saw the gold system at Software Etc. at the mall behind plexi glass. There it was... shiny, beautiful, and softly whispering it can be all mine. It was that sexy. I BEGGED my mom to get it. I bet you know the rest of the story. I am really glad SNK released the games on Steam.
ОтветитьThat cart for the Neo Geo X is like looking at a prototype for a Switch cart. Seriously, it looks so similar.
ОтветитьGoing back to watching this for a second time, and John just looks so weird without the beard.
Ответить"I have space issues."
I could help you out with that!
I'm from Brazil and the Neo Geo was a dream console of the 90s, if it was unaffordable in the US just figure how harder it would be to have it in Brazil, it was so damn expensive, probably only the kids of super-rich Brazilians could have it. Conversely, in Sao Paulo there was plenty of arcades around to play NEO GEO and also there were also rental shops where you can play there the AES paying by hour played.
