Im the exact same way. Really weird things that become an inside joke from a very narrow window that aren't aimed to amuse anyone else but myself. I know exactly what he's talking about with scared straight too. When that came out I cant tell you how many times I referenced things from it to make myself laugh. One of the ones I ran into the ground though was from an HBO documentary called Life of Crime (1 and 2.) There was this, lets say, "not so fit" addict father who would always say, "taint worf it." That stuck in my head, and become my catch phrase at one point for a very long time. I had to explain that to so many people, 😂. I only ever knew one person who knew what I was talking about, and we became pretty good friends just because of that. 😆.

I tried watching both documentaries recently, and all I realized is that I was a huge asshole, cause they're really, really sad now. There's nothing funny about them at all.

We saw this disoriented guy outside a Pantera concert like 20yrs ago he was mad and fucked up, stumbling around and yelled "POINT WEST!" and everyone pointed in different directions and he was like "POINT WEST MOTHERFUCKERS!" and stumbled off into a random distance. To this day we laugh and yell "point west!"

So I did some digging. The “hold my pocket” guy is named Jamal and his father Malik was actually in the ORIGINAL Scared Straight documentary from 1978. His father was one of the lifers and now his son is immortalized in a Tom Segura bit
