Manjaro 22.0 : GNOME vs KDE vs XFCE (RAM Consumption)

You can make gnome use less ram by disabling the searches in the settings and by shutting off the desktop wallpaper(desktop wallpaper uses like 200 MB or 300MB of ram)
i think turning off all extensions will also decrease the ram usage

if you have a fairly good machine go with genome or kde you will not like switching from windows to a bad looking xfce desktop

This video breaks most stereotypes that GNOME is a memory hole and XFCE is extremely lightweight. In this particular case it seems it's not worth bothering with XFCE at all. I guess there will be differences on each and every machine though.

I think this compare actually only for those people's, who has 4gb memory on board. Modern pc has at least 8gb. Different between ram consumption on some distr for new pc is not that important.

Kde uses a lot in manjaro. I boot it around 750 on a kubuntu. And xfce gradually increases ram while you use it. It's that tumblerd issue that still isn't solved.

this is actually a good way to compare linux distros. you dont have to drag out the whole process by showing us you pulling up the terminal n such, just give us the imedeate results after the desktop showcase, it will make your watchtimes alot better if you consolidate the information.

Since XFCE close to Plasma & Gnome in resources consumption there's no point of using it as a daily driver.
