just purchased a 2015 Highlander hybrid from dealership. 100k miles. I plan on going to get my transmission oil changed this week. after seeing this video, I should be putting the WS transmission fluid in my rear differential?

Hello I watched a recent video of yours regarding maintaining a Tundra I have a 21 tundra just hit 30k miles I’m trying to follow your advice on up keep. I did my front, rear diff and transaxle I got Lucas full synthetic 75W 90 gear oil GL 5 rated. After further review and already using the product is this gear oil acceptable? I still plan to change again at 60k or do I need to find a better gear oil and do it again before 60k. I figured brand did not matter that much but later found Lucas was the worst in an independent test I found after the fact and I thought I used one of the best. Feel duped and having second thoughts on the oil I used. Any reply would be greatly appreciated I really appreciate your content and honest opinion.

Thank you!

Question- I have a 2019 tundra 4x4. I’m going to service both front and back differentials which calls for 75w85. The transfer case calls for 75W super expensive stuff. Is there anything else that would work for my truck?

Differential and Transfer Case Fluids:

Trucks (4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, etc.): Replace differential and transfer case fluids every 30,000 miles.
All-wheel drive cars and SUVs (Rav4, Camry, Highlander, etc.): Replace rear differential fluid every 30,000 miles; front transfer case fluid around 60,000 miles.
Use aftermarket gear oil, not necessarily Toyota-branded oil, for cost savings.

Wiper Blades:
Avoid purchasing Toyota-branded wipers; they may not provide the best performance.
Consider buying high-quality wiper inserts from the dealership for better performance.
Inserts are cost-effective and can be easily replaced.

Air Conditioning (AC) Maintenance:
Recharging or refreshing your AC is not necessary if it's working well and blowing cold air.
AC issues arise mainly from leaks or damage, not just from routine use.
Moldy or foul-smelling AC can be addressed with AC refresh kits, available at Toyota dealerships.
AC refresh kits are simple to use and can help eliminate moldy odors.
Regularly check and replace the cabin air filter to ensure clean airflow.

Remember that proper vehicle maintenance should align with your car's condition and manufacturer recommendations. Always consult your vehicle's owner's manual for specific maintenance intervals and guidelines.

My 2022 tundra 2WD hit 30k but in only 13 months, do you still recommend the rear differential, I don’t tow, and no off road.

Thanks for your videos helps a lot.

Owners manual for a 2021 Rav4 says to to use 75W-85 GL-5 LX for both Transfer Case and Rear Differential however after calling numerous dealerships to get said fluid ordered since I can’t find it regularly available at any auto parts supply store they all say use 75w-90 gl-5. Will the difference cause an issue in anyway? Also dealerships say changing the fluid on rear diff and transfer case shouldn’t be due until 60k miles however the manuals which came with the vehicle specifically mention 30k mile intervals, how can there be such a discrepancy between what the manufacturer and 3 different dealerships claim?…

Thank you, AMD, for sharing your experience . There are so many people that allow themselves to be victims of a corrupt system due to lack of education. Thanks for helping to prevent this.
It is refreshing to have learned about the wiper inserts; I thout this was extinct like the oil bath air cleaner and "hand break".
I remember as a youngster and subsequently teen driver, full service gas stations where one get new wiper inserts installed while the cavernous gas tank was filled all for about $20 including a pop and maybe a Snickers.
Thanks for the tips presented in a clear and concise manner. Blessings to you.

After having gone through several of your videos, I am learning how my local dealership has been ripping me off. I always nodded yes to their laundry list of to-do things every 5000 miles I took my vehicle there for maintenance. And how one time, they didn't even change my engine oil cause they said the color is good and Toyota can comfortably run for 10,000 miles without needing an oil change. I am furiously looking around for workshops that give basic car maintenance training for car noobs like me so these local dealerships don't rip me off next time. Next time, I am going to ask them to change just my engine oil and tire rotation, that's it.

I watched the video, where mentioned a Polymer "Part" on the back side of the engine. Would you Please tell me if a 4 Cylinder, Late 2017 Toyota Tacoma would have this polymer part?? And also, would the engine have to be pulled for changing it?! Also is there a substitute for the Polymer part??! Thanks again, and God Bless.

Hello, thanks for sharing this info! I have a 2008 Rav4 and the manual calls for 85w90 or 80w90(when temps are below 0F) with the transfer case, and 80w90 for the rear differential. It seems like others are fine using valvoline fully synthetic 75w90 for both, since what really matters is the viscosity at operating temperature. Would you agree?

Great video. I have a 04 toyota sienna awd. Are the transfer case's breathers removable? I heard rumors that these can not be removed. Is this true. I would luke to replace mine. Im the 2nd owner at 120k now at 170k. Had fluid changed twice through that time. I would like to attempt this myself. The breather screws off easy with the rear diff.was curious if you have experiwnced the transfer case breather removal replacement?

Super thanks for the vid mate. I have a 2005 Prado J120 Land Cruiser 2.7L in Indonesia. I always thought 4WD = AWD. She has about 400k km. Fully maintained by authorized workshop using only original parts. Had the transmission “rebuilt” at 300k km. Lately When I drive it at below 70km, I can hear and feel a “one second vibration”. Please share your thoughts. Thanks.
