Hey Martin. QUESTION: I bought a generic ef adapter and used an ef 35-80 on my R8. I did a shoot and it worked great. focus worked and shot a bunch of pics but now they won’t show up on my Mac or canon app. Do you know what’s going on? Is there a way to recover them? Do I need to upgrade firmware or something first? Or do I need to setup eos utility?
ОтветитьGreat video Martin, I have considered the Canon RP after watching your review and looking at the price of the RP and the second use prices are a lot less than I expected. This might be an option now, but I've bought a 6D now and a mint condition Rolleiflex Tessar f3.5 with the 75mm lens so I need to get some money back in before making any other purchases.
ОтветитьHow about tamron or sigma with EF mount and use RF adapter on those lenses? Will it work? Does it gave good focus, video, stabilization, etc?
ОтветитьIs it me, or do EF lenses seem to have better build quality?
ОтветитьBeen trying to find if we lose any stops if we use the adaptor or nothing happens besides the cam and lenses talking to each other.
ОтветитьPragmatism in photography? So refreshing. Subbed.
ОтветитьI have a rebel T7. Which adapter can I use to have it fit RF lenses?
ОтветитьWhat about the third party lenses? I have a nice Tamron g2 24-70mm f2.8 will the adapter work the same on my eso r?
ОтветитьThe RF communication protocol is a superset of EF. It simply has a couple of extra pins which provide higher voltage to more powerful AF motors in RF lenses, and allow for co-ordination between IS and IBIS. However, the first few pins use the traditional EF protocol.
You might say, therefore, that EF lenses are native on RF, in terms of communication and function and only need to be adapted physically.
Hi Martin, hope all's we'll. Love the content. What vintage or new lens would you use on the Canon 5D Classic? Still looking for my Canon 5D. Cheers Howard 👍🙂
ОтветитьHow do you reckon the R6 performs compared to the 6D and 5D mkI? Have you tried it? Supposedly the Canon RP is comparable to Canon 6D MK2 in terms of colour?
ОтветитьThe root cause here is that Canon is anti-competitive. They are using the RF tech to stifle competition. imagine if Canon was legislatively forced to share it's RF tech (not giving it away for free, but licensing it to 3rd parties for reasonable prices). There'd be more lens competition on the market and this would ONLY benefit consumers.
I know Americans will hate this idea, since they are full on capitalists and brain washed by their government and corporations, but in reality, software patents are just plain wrong. For many years, the EU banned software patents and software thrived in the EU and competition was excellent (unlike the US market where the big players have all of the software patents and kill small business from entering the market).
If only governments weren't so corrupt and in the take with big corporations. Things would be a lot better for consumers.
Martin’s next video: Why should you get rid of your DSLR and get an R camera...
ОтветитьNow I get it…!
ОтветитьThanks Martin, very useful
ОтветитьBang on video mate (Missed seeing this being posted, so I've hit the Bell now ) I have the 24-105 RF lens that came with my RP, but I love using primes, and as you point out, the cost of these RF lenses are an insane price. So with the price of the adaptor being reasonable and the vast array of much cheaper EF lenses available, I now have a good range of options to choose from, and you've answered my question regarding the compatibility of these adaptors, Sorted. Cheers Pal, and keep these fab videos coming :)
ОтветитьCuriously, the Finger EF to Z adaptor in more reliable then the proprietary DF to Z from nikon.
This being said, the EF to RF from canon work like native.
Martin's comments are spot on. I have the R5 with the Canon adapter and using all my F lenses and they work perfectly. And no issue with the Ls sticking out a bit because of the adapter. As a matter of fact, the L lenses work better on my R5 than my 5D.
ОтветитьOf course they work...EF lenses work better on R cameras than they do on DSLRs.
ОтветитьHave the eos r, the ef to rf adapter is fine
ОтветитьEF to RF adapters - absolutely fine.... the control ring version is very useful, as you can control the ISO very easily
ОтветитьSuch a helpful video again. Full of Constructive Common Sense. Thank You Martin.
ОтветитьCanontalk and Sonytalk is a cute and clear way to explain the communication idea… I am still sticking with my 5D4 though. It suits my needs, and it is a great bicep exercise every time I use it. 👍😗
ОтветитьI'm one of these people. I have a 5D classic, Mk II, Mk III and I constituted a very good collection of EF lenses throughout the years. I wanted to buy a nice mirrorless body to replace my 5D Mk III but wasn't ready to buy a bunch of new super expensive RF lenses. Some of my friends are used to finance for their new system by selling the old one but I'm not like that. My old EF collection is very dear to me (a lot of great memories are attached to some of these lenses). And because I didn't trust the "adapter" solution I decided to stay with my 5D mk III and to wait a bit more for the next generation of mirrorless. But your video made me reconsider that idea. If the official Canon adapter is working without any problems, it might be super nice for me to start a new system with an already very extensive set of good quality lenses. Thanks for the video.
