My 06 Escape just died on me. I'm thinking it may be the timing chain after watching your video. Are there any special tools needed from start to finish?

Might want to put some assembly lube on the guides and gears. I hate running new components dry even for a second.

He’s telling you to put it on 3 o’clock but you could be off 180 degrees you gotta make sure piston number 1 is at top dead center good job tho

I am doing the exact same job the same cam is jumped on mine as yours was only question i have is can i just turn the cam back the three or four teeth it is out when i take the chain off any respose would help thanks

I have a yellow 2002 v6 I just got and it needs this done. Do u use any lock tight on those two bolt on the tensioner? I can do mechanic work but not sure about that? Thanks

2002 MAZDA TRIBUTE 3.0L V6
Replaced the RH (Firewall) cylinder head but did not set the crankshaft at the 3 OC position. Found instructions later and tried to align cam and crank after watching your video. Could not rotate engine so I went to front timing chain and tried to align marks (another mistake because this chain had never been removed). Then aligned rear. Reassembled but engine would not start. Removed cylinder head, cleaned head and reassembled. Started at # 1-TDC, 3 OC put rear chain on but could not rotate engine.
My next idea is to remove rear chain, move chank to 3 OC position and rotate engine 1 and 2/3 turns to 11 OC and align front chain per video. Then go to 3 OC and align rear chain. Rotate engine. Do you have any suggestions? Did I miss something? Any help is appreciated.

This is a interference engine must of bent valves. I had a customer with bent valves on the vvt engine If its vvt.

Appreciate your very good video and explanation. But....shouldn't you mention that the exhaust cam had to be 'realigned' to the required 12 o'clock position once the chain got removed? also, for anybody wondering.....the markings on the chain links that help to install the chain will NOT align with crank and cam timing marks after the chains are installed......except very very occasionally. otherwise, a handful of specific chain links would always be getting stressed a lot more than the other links. Happy Saint Paddy's Day!!

Does the timing chain cover use a gasket or silicone rubber from a tube? How difficult was it to remove the cover with the engine in the vehicle. my cover is leaking oil. Dealer wants to charge $1000.00 they stating that the engine must be dropped from vehicle in order to access the timing chain cover.

How often have to change that chain, I have a 2006 Escape V6 engine with a pinging problem. with no PCM codes at all, I had change spark plugs, coils, fuel and air filter, EGR and clean the MAF, but pinging still, even with the 93 octane gas, do you think is a timing chain problem. Thank you

Wife let oil get low, eventually it gave out, really bad rattling noise multiple engine codes etc. Towed it to shop they said bad engine, $2,800. I wasn't buying that the engine had blown. I knew it had probably jumped time. Followed your steps exactly and $240 later it's all good! Thanks a bunch for this video life saver!

Do you know if this engine is an "interference" or "non-interference engine"? How many miles did that engine have before it had timing chain issues? Looking at buying a used escape with 90k miles... wondering if I should steer clear.
