Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen) | Is It Right For YOU?

I've found your vids really helpful, so thanks. I do have a question: I'll be playing guitar and the other person an electronic drum kit. We want to use headphones, but the 2i2 only has one headphone input. Will a headphone splitter work so that we can both hear each other? Thanks!

I currently use a TC Helicon VoiceLive Play, this is a blue object used for singing it provides many effects in stereo mode, it's not an audio interface, so my purpose is to use its two line o, and it's ok.futputs to send audio streight into the scarlett 2i2 in order to get a perfect stereo sound, so can I? because maybe this object is already a preamplifier, I don't know, is it going to damage the scarlett 2i2? same thing about the guitar, i'd like to send sound streight from the amlifier Boss Katana 50 mk ii into the Scarlett 2i2 but this time trough the jack, is it possible? is it going to damage the scarlett 2i2? as you can see, i never l just a mic or a guitar to the scarlett 2i2, is it a mistake? What if I wanted, instead, only to put the mic or the guitar into the scarlett 2i2, will I hear the sound once from the right and once from the left chanel or is it possible to provide a stereo sound or alteratively a mono sound just for the instrument in one input or just for the mic?

I have just bought the focusrite 8i6...I think think this the best size for me.....I have an old Korg Triton keyboard and the midi in outs are perfect.....and I am also going to use an outboard compressor

Great video! I went through that thought process a year ago, deciding between the 2i2 and the 4i4. (I ended up going with the 4i4). The Focusrite products seem to work well.

Quick notes: the direct monitoring is an available feature but it isn’t great if you are using it to record vocals, it doesn’t allow for much adjustment. I’d also mention that the a/d d/a converters are okay in this unit for the price, but you’ll notice a difference if you were to use an interface like an Apollo twin x duo. I have a 2i2 and I use it for light portable studio work, but you will want to consider a few other boxes if you are doing more than light portable studio recording.

Does the daw software has Ai drums on it. Ai drums similar to garageband that creates ai drum track while recording?

I looked at the 2i2, and it would have been fine for me if it only had 2 more outs. But than they would have had to call it the 2x4. And that name is taken. 😁 I started with a Scarlet Solo, tried the IK Axe I/O which I didn't like and didn't work well with my external processors for guitar. Tried the Clarett +2pre which had a clash with my computer in some way and had a continuous problem with noise. I settled on the 4i4 because I wanted the extra outs to run to more monitors or my FRFR cabinet from ISP. And the 4i4 works great for what I need. For me as a solo artist, writing and recording in my personal studio, I think I'll have it for a long time.

I own a much more expensive 2 interface with internal DSP. I tend to agree with Kyle, there’s really nothing that compares with Focusrite Scarlett’s features and sonic quality wise in this price range

Question: I have a PreSonus AudioBox USB (the now-discontinued model, not the current USB 96).

It does what I need as I run a Kemper into it and the occasional vocal. As long as it still works, is there any real reason to upgrade beyond "because"?

Thanks, Kyle. I have the 2i2 and really like it. Next, I’m looking to connect it to my ATEM Mini Pro Iso. I suppose I could take the line level output left and right and go to the ATEM. My question is: Would I need both right and left outputs for spoken word, or I could I come out one (l or r) on 2i2 output to one input on Atem? Guess that would be a mono setup?
