ОтветитьThanks man. Much better response than an email 👌
ОтветитьThe 2100 and the 2005 are both excellent. I've been podcasting since 2005 and have owned several more expensive mics and this is always the go-to and I have one that stays in my bag so I can use it for travel. Sounds awesome, it's dynamic and love that I have the choice of using xlr or usb. Pairs with a good interface at home and straight to usb on the road. I was given the Yeti as a gift, and I don't prefer condensers, but you can change the pickup pattern a bit and as long as you close mic it, it can work out. I recommend the 2100 or 2005 to new podcasters bc it lowers the barrier to entry.
ОтветитьHey, which country do you live in?
ОтветитьThank you for the information....good to know 👍🏼
ОтветитьReally enjoying your content. Thx
ОтветитьYeah man,, more..
ОтветитьWhoa, wasn’t expecting that shout-out, what a treat! Thx, Tyler! 👍
ОтветитьThanks for sharing! Btw is that a Herman Miller Mirra chair ?
ОтветитьWhere are the B rollssssssss
ОтветитьI feel like this video could have been better with more b rolls, well paced background music and well defined structure for better narrative: a section for hardware with it’s subdivisions and same go for others (software, logistics and maybe even having video podcasts).
ОтветитьSpeaking to audio quality, the S’s and T’s were peaking pretty high on this video, what can be done to help bring down the frequencies of these vocalizations when recording?
ОтветитьCrimetown. Best podcast followed by grant cardone and Patrick Bet David
ОтветитьAuphonic is a game changer for leveling audio. So glad you mentioned that. Would love to hear a quick run-through on how you record via Audition. I have Adobe CC and would love to use Audition but still produce audio podcasts with Garage Band bc, well, it's not terrible. Another great video.
ОтветитьPlz link the gear in the bio
ОтветитьAgain! Another video with amazing quality. You should have ALOT more of subscribers, maybe get some people to help you to role out more videos?
ОтветитьWould love for you to do a part 2, thanks man!!
ОтветитьHow about doing a new Cameras Or Whatever podcast. That would better. Haven't done one for a while.
ОтветитьYes, I want to learn more.
ОтветитьOk I definitely want to learn more!!
ОтветитьI’m not looking for recommendation on software I just want to know how to program a One hour long podcast, where I press a button am I theme song plays for three minutes.. I talked for 54 minutes and then when my time is up my outro comes then automatically— I do not want to edit my podcast at all
ОтветитьI did learn a lot from this video though
ОтветитьThis video sounded like it was 1.5x speed. There’s just so much to cover 😄 - I just bought a used PR40 woohoo
ОтветитьThe framing in all your videos is so good. I'm shooting something right now and trying to get great framing of my face that creates a good natural looking scene is tough sometimes
ОтветитьI don't understand why everyone is recommending mics like SM7B and Heil PR40. They require super expensive preamps or additional amplifiers. I tried SM7Bs for our podcast (two of those = $800) but I also had to get Cloudlifter CL-2 ($249), since my Apogee Duet audio interface ($649) has barely enough gain for them. It just becomes too noisy because you have to crank up the gain to 3/4. I actually prefer condenser mics if the room is good enough. It's a way better investment to buy a good value condenser mic and treat your room with the rest of the money. Condenser mics also capture your voice much more naturally. If you can't work in a quiet or treated room, I would recommend mics like SM58 for beginners. It's affordable, sounds good enough and doesn't require too much gain.
ОтветитьWith the blue yetti there is a dial on the back that allows you to change like where it picks sound up from and how it displays the sound
Ответитьyou do realize the the yeti is not omni directional.. it does have an option to be omni directional. in fact it has 4 pick-up patterns you can choose from.. and for podcasting or when you only want to record sound from the front you choose the cardioid pattern.. now i will say that because its a large diaphragm condenser mic and not a dynamic mic that it can pic up a little extra noise (from in front, not behind) but plenty of radio hosts use large diaphragm condenser mics and also a lot of music vocals are recorded using large diaphragm condenser mics..
ОтветитьThis was so helpful and thorough. Thank you!
ОтветитьGreat video, very honest and helpful! I was wondering if someone had experience with Anchor? They seem like a great choice for starting a podcast but I don't know if there's a catch.
ОтветитьTyler, I have a Linear PCM Recorder, do I need also a USB Audio Interface?
Ответитьwhat do you use to record your video?
ОтветитьDynamic doesn’t mean that, what you want to say is Cardioid.
ОтветитьHi, semi-pro sound engineer here, just some heads up and maybe interesting info for anyone looking for some more stuff to dig into:
- Dynamic microphone doesn't neccessarily mean a cardioid record pattern (The one that mostly takes sound from the front). While most dynamic mics do indeed have a cardioid pattern, there is also other recording characteristics available for them. Condenser mics also very often come with cardioid or super/hypercardioid patterns.
- Keep in mind that dynamic microphones need to move more mass in order to convert audio to electricity, so they often are less precise at the same price range as condenser mics, that doesn't mean they can't sound great anyways, it's just a thing to keep in mind.
- Cardioid microphones work in following way: Sound from the back travels in through 2 "openings" in the capsule, first it hits the back of the membrane which wants to make it move forward, then construction wise there is enough delay for the sound coming from the back that it wants to move the membrane into the opposite direction, the phase of the sound is about inverted and cancels out the previous sound from the back. Hence it doesnt record from the back. This also means that with phase cancellation going on inside the microphone, cardioid microphones lose some quality in sound again. This again is a relatively ignorable amount, but keep in mind things add up, and the cost point rises a bit again.
- Cardioid microphones compared to omnidirectional mics have the so called proximity effect, where your voice will have more bass to it, the closer you get. This can be a desired aswell as undesired effect, but usually radio moderators love that sound, and podcasters do too. Listen to examples and decide your own if you like this sound.
- Ribbon Microphones usually sound amazing on voices as they have a very warm tone to it, while still resolving high end well. Those microphones are rather costly though and require extra care in storage and handling.
- Every voice has its own character and some microphones that sound great on others, may not suit your own voice that well. Usually it takes time and money to find the perfect microphone for you.
- If you are on a budget, or just like me, love trying out stuff, sometimes you can find real great bargains. Last week I bought a microphone off Amazon on sale for 25€ (Tonor BM700) that had a Mic Arm, a Popfilter, a windscreen, a shockmount and the mic included. To my huge surprise, it sounded pretty clear, had a great signal to noise ratio and really only had a minus on the cardioid pattern that was relatively weak and picked up some room resonances more loudly. Usually if you learn to use an EQ right, you can get great results out of virtually no money. Of course they won't give you studio great quality, but you can go a longer way than you might expect.
EDIT: I want to add that indeed, with dynamic microphones in general (there's exceptions as always) you will catch less reverberation of the room for a slightly different reason: As I stated before, you have a heavier membrane to move, which will also make it less sensitive. That means that it's harder for the microphone to pick up low volume sounds over higher volume sounds. This means that quieter sounds, like room reflections in our example, are not picked up as much. This is why indeed with large diaphragm condenser mics, you need to give your room a bit more careful treatment, as they are more sensitive and will pick up anything that comes their way.
If anyone is actually interested, I'll make a tiny Podcast with and about cheap mics, how to EQ them and get good results for cheap.
Cheers
OMG thanks so much for the Audio Technica ATR-2100 review!
ОтветитьThis video quality is amazing! What camera and lens are you using ??
Ответитьi have beats studio 3s and AT2005 works great!
ОтветитьHey man, nice video and all, but you're totally off about the Blue Yeti. Are you aware that it has a pickup pattern knob on the back with 4 settings? The Yeti is only sensitive to all ambient sounds when set to the omnidirectional pattern. It has a cardioid pattern as well specifically for podcasting, picking up only what's in front... That's a big turn-off when you don't know how to use the products you're talking about in a how-to video, especially when talking about possibly the best entry-level microphone on the market for aspiring podcasters.
ОтветитьTyler Great Content Man! I' have the Heil PR-40 and I've been having trouble finding a pop filter like the one in your video. Any advice bro? Thanks!
ОтветитьTyler, I am pretty new to Podcasting and going through a lot of your stuff. Thank you for the great info. -I see some others ask this on your comments but I can not find your response. What camera (and lens) are you using? Your color tones are amazing. Thanks for any info
Ответить"This is the most boring part"
Me: this was the whole reason I was looking for your video
Can you do a video on how to record video podcasts? How do you handle large file sizes etc.
ОтветитьGrate info
Ответить1110
ОтветитьGreat video. I used a Rode Podcaster - USB straight into Reaper. If you know basic audio editing you can make that thing sound really pro.
ОтветитьMasterclass in podcast production - wow!
ОтветитьWhere did you get the pop filter for the PR40?
