Also, little known fact today. But the political parties used to switch between blue & red depending on which party won.

Lydia the seller of purple. Is a character from the Bible. It's a interesting tidbit. If any of y'all are interested look into that story.
But the short of it is.

Purple came from some sort of sea urchin. It would take thousands of them just to make enough purple ink. So they would have to have hundreds of people working for them under their control. To be able to extract enough to make even a small article of cloth/clothing purple. Therefore it was the color of royalty.

Countries where there are not so many regulations. Colors are much more mixed together and free. An example look at some African school buses. 1 bus may be painted with many colors maybe like 20+ sometimes.

In contrast with the West where all of the school buses are yellow do to regulations in code high visibility it makes sense. But you can see the slippery slope. We can see where that type of ideology. Could start with good intentions and turn bad overtime.

Things are much more color coordinated in the Western world.

I don't disagree with anything you've said, but there is another layer of meaning to colors - cultural overlays.
I was looking into internationalizing a graphical user interface and discovered that not just shapes, but colors had to be adjusted for the locality where the software was being used.
Here's some examples I ran into:
West: blue is 'reliable'. East: blue is untrustworthy
West: yellow is a warning. East: yellow is good, like sunshine.
West: red is the color of danger. East: red is the color of life.
West: white is the color of purity. East: white is the color of mourning.... and so on.

And to think, all these years I thought that having mostly black in my wardrobe signified that I work as a professional stage technician.

As an American this checks out, I have characters that follow this color pattern as well and this is the first time I saw this video.

My boyfriend is 95% grey, blue and brown. I even gave him my dark blue umbrella, which didn’t fit my own palette.
I curate my palette around greens, with accents of deep reds or rich yellows. Belt, handbag, gloves, shoes…. are black. I have a personal aversion to brown and blue; dunno what came over me the day I got that blue umbrella.

my rule is always black pants or shorts plus any color shirt (not pink or purple) sometimes, a style of light colored cargo pants with a black shirt, sometimes all black. In my characters i could just mix a green tunic with brown leather armor over it and a red scarf, also black pants and red shoes with white soles... Looks cool!

Normally i just wear black to hide among the crowd, like shadows y'know? I just like blending in. Is it the best color? No, i don't think it is. Does it feel like camo? To me yes

Can't wait to apply none of this to my wardrobe
