These dogs have been bred for decades to do this. It’s their instinct. They will not back down until they are injured by the bear. The bear on the other hand is unsure and intimidated by the dogs courage. A bear does not encounter such a dog everyday.

My Cousin has three Alabai's and One Kangal, he lives in Canada in a restricted area, forest everywhere, he raises Chickens, anyways, what Three Alabai's and One Kangal vs a Black Bear what they can do to a Black Bear is horrendous, even though the dogs themselves were bleeding and whimpering but still barking, The Bear itself was laying down lifeless, they bit at its neck, paws, everything, but against a Grizzly Bear or Polar Bear? They wouldn't survive, and it was a small medium sized black Bear as well, not a very large one.

The bear is huge by any comparison. I think he doesn't know the strength he really has. He could kill any dog in a minute's fight, but prefers to leave.

That's the difference between a Bear and a big cat. If that was a tiger Alabai will be dead in second. That bear can easily rip Alabai in two half tho. I am taking about mentality difference not strength. Bears are much more bigger and stronger than any big cats.

The bear is basically doing the same thing we do when we see large rodents,
Do not think that means that if you run into one without fear that your dog will chase it off. Your dog is banking on fear not ability.

I think its in the gene of bears to get hardly intimidated, even the small bears get hardly intimidated & take time before they retreat...some animals intimidation time is longer than some others...gene & growth in certain environments matter

Alabai seem very intelligent, working towards de escalation and deterrence , keeping distance, against the big bear.

This was maybe a older Bear who didn't want any trouble, so he prefered to run off. Bears are not always in the mood to kill, they only attack when they protect their territory.
It depends on personality of the Bear, but an aggressive Grizzly only needs 5 Seconds and it's lights out for these two Alabai.
