Bentley W12 Engine Production

Great video. Please explain why this very expensive engine uses designed to fail plastic chain guides? To me this is a huge design failure. I'll bet the only issues with this engine are timing chain related.

I think that the W12 engine is absolutely fantastic. Bentley should have built a luxury sedan as a successor to the Mulsanne powered by the W16.

Big mistakes in this movie. Its called W12 production but after 9.40 its a mixture of the W12 and the V8.

Double row chain would have been icing on the cake....

Such interesting and unique engines, would hate to have to work on one still bolted in a car haha. I think the VR layout will be remembered long into the future

Installing bearing bolts with a 50 pound power drill really hammers in the quality of these shit-tons of metal junk.

замороченный мотор . Проще v8 - американская классика , сама конструкция мотора проще + качественные комплектующие = залог долговечности ( моторесурса в 1 млн км ) Но , v8 можно самому перебрать , а вот этот бентли навряд ли , да и не целесообразно .

I like this one a little more because you actually see workers interacting with one another.

The solution for exhaust has to be the new frontier. The technology going into this engine is mind boggling but exhaust tech hasn't kept up. The entire bottom end of the drive train is wrapped in 3" exhaust that occasionally glow's red with heat. I give you a 10 for managing installation of an exhaust system that function's. All that heat goes somewhere & aluminum trans & engine will absorb heat very efficiently. With electric car's on the horizon, this tech aint gonna happen. So close, yet...

Nothing new here, the ''W'' format engine was used by the Americans in WW2 in their PT torpedo boats. only advantage is these in cars is very smooth but reliability and costs to repair or rebild is thru the roof. one would be just better off buying a larger displacement 4, 5 or 6 cylinder engine or a v8.
