I wanted to mention that mappa did an incredible job in animation of part 2 at all levels ( CGI - 2d - scouts - motion ) and better than wit
respect to both studies ❤

The worst part of it all is that Mappa had around two scenes where they showed that they obviously CAN do incredible ODM gear scenes, especially with Levi and Mikasas' last ODM scene at the end... but it's like, Mappa animators we're streched so thin. That studio is not big enough to be working on all the projects that they are working on.

Wit is the reason AOT has earned the world's attention. Without the cinematography and direction, only few people will get hook to Shingeki.

Mappa still did a pretty good job as well for the final season. Their art style might have also been more fitting for the final season than Wit’s but either way both studios brought this masterpiece to life.

I don't know why people cope that MAPPA is fine, MAPPA's best was WIT's average and WIT's worst was NEVER as bad as MAPPA's worst.

MAPPA did AOT dirty, blame the people uptop and not the animators, sure, of course, but that's how it is. Animation aside, there's so much more that was lost, direction, lighting, pacing, music choices, I rewatched season 2 the other week and it was night and day. Back in the day when AOT characters were inside a room illuminated by a sunny day coming from a window, you would be able to see faintly how particles of dust floated on the room, and the way the sun illuminated their face, stuff like that was just lost...

The thing that disturbs me is the fact WIT studio is the one that slowly builds AOT franchise. They have amazing director,animation and have put alot of money until they almost become broke. When they sell AOT at its peak to MAPPA, its MAPPA that got all the hype and gain money even the animation is subpar. When said that MAPPA animation is just alright, they start to nitpick WIT’s colossal titan and CGI which is just like 2% of the whole animation.

Mappa has the ability to create amazing animations...i mean just look at the last e episodes of jjk. But time is never on the their side it seems. Both are great but one actually was able to finish the series in a reasonable amount of time.

Wit: Eren is a kid who's gonna kill every Titan in the world and his background should look like this.

Mappa: anime took a huge dark turn Eren is literally the enemy of humanity and the dark vibes of the show should be prioritize than the slaughtering and ending should be perfect with gradually making the show look brighter.

I think they both did an amazing job and overall ending was perfect considering how the ending would've turn out.And yimir Fitz's scenes were so good they perfectly blended the dark and sorrowful vibes.

I feel like this is somewhat of an unfair comparison. Its the literal best ODM gear scene compared with the literal worst one

It's hard on MAPPA guys. They didn't had enough time to make good show. Either ways both MAPPA and WIT hire similar freelancers but it's the schedule which causes the main problem. Go and watch last couple parts of the anime and admire their work to it's peak potential!

Wit’s version is so much more visually appealing and the animation is better.
MAPPA’s version is harder to take seriously with its PlayStation 2 titans, less depth in backgrounds (every shot really), goofy expressions on the characters, goofy character proportions, common noticeable frame drops, overused stress lines which are low quality and genuinely look like they were done in Microsoft paint, direction isn’t as impactful or tactful, it’s the bare minimum translation from the manga, the vast majority of the new music they use is terrible or meh, the color grading is very poor, there’s no balance the whole show is just yellow, I can go on.
You can prefer whichever, but you really don’t know anything about art if you think that MAPPA made a superior product than Wit studio.
Final season is a cash grab made by an overwhelmed team who had to rush it out, and it shows in the final product.

Imagine AOT looked like the MAPPA style originally and then switched to the wit style for final season. You and I both know that we wouldn’t see 1% of the complaints if that’s how it went.

I like Wit animation. The odm is better in wit compared to mappa idk but something is missing. But the characters look good with Mappa except for Levi 🥲

Now compare it to WIT's dogshit cgi instead of the part they put all of their effort into (they used cgi constantly)

Thankfully Aot is one of the few animes that don't need good animation to be enjoyable but I hate mappa and how they treat their animators

Wit gave us momentum and speed. it really sucks u in that there is physic in that anime involved. This is how u deliver action, while mappa didnt spend much time in inventing such as weight and physics in their animations. cg lacks of physics in so many shots not in every shot they are used but most of it. and i think wit did a way better job because they knew they have to put time in it to deliver the best quality possible! they actually loved the franchise. Mappa is just to big, even though they did give last episodes justice. there they did a pretty good job while using cgi.
