So kel dieing at 21 is quite off even after moving on too fast, the optimistic personality and easy to get around people for A extroverted individual and even after calming Hero than having a little sister will quite be impossible for Kel to trace back the trauma of his old friends since the people in faraway town are well known of Kel, mostly in his sportsmanship to basketball or his likelihood to interact strangers.

I don't see the idea of kel just Oof himself in 21 even to the point that his school might provided him athletic scholarship for his age of dieing and his supportive family figure. And yes I know the short is a bad ending but I still don't see the idea of kel dieing to unforeseen death of his trauma.
