The Xbox is considerably more powerful than the PS2, can play music CDs and DVDs (although you need to buy a remote) and due to it having a hard drive you didn't really need to buy a memory card unless you somehow managed to use 8gb of storage in 2001

you can watch movies and play music on an xbox like you can on the ps2, but you need the xbox remote.

PlayStation selled more because Sony convinced the world that video games are not only for little kids… sega Nintendo are still mentioned as child consoles…

Seriously tho, saying the ps2 was more powerful than the xbox and gamecube was a huge slip up for what is otherwise a solid video. Still, kinda lost your credibility with that statement.

Xbox by a long shot is the better console, and why is Xbox better than PS2, I’ll tell you why. First of all the original Xbox is technically is a PC console. The Xbox had better graphics than the ps2. The Xbox had exclusives like Ninja Gaiden, Star Wars Republic Comando, The first Forza, Halo CB, and Halo 2 which arguably is the greatest story and campaign in video game history. Both Halo games being the first successful first person shooters on console’s paving the way for all call of duty multiplayer games. Xbox had Xbox Live which revolutionized online gaming. Halo 2 out sold the highest rating movie of 2004 and outsold any full-feature movie in entertainment history during that time, and Halo 2 sold 2.4 million units in 24 hours. You could also download music on your Xbox and listen to music as you played your games, and you had more features in the settings. Don’t get me wrong the ps2 was great, but it’s graphics even lacked compared to the game cube, and the ps2 online was difficult to play on. It’s preference for any generation of consoles, but Xbox did it better in every way. Sure the ps2 had more exclusives, and the ps2 is the highest sold console in console history because it came out a year before the Xbox, and everyone wanted to buy a dvd during that time before the Xbox was out because DVD players were so expensive compared to the ps2, but I had both the Xbox and the ps2, I still have my Xbox, sadly I gave my ps2 away, but I have to say for owning both, I do prefer the Xbox.

Cant believe that tou didnt mention you dont need to hardware upgrade or even soft mod a Dreamcast anything manufactured in 1999 or lower will plaay games from pal jap and mtsc no problem aslong as you burn them correctly using discjuggler or use a boot disc 👍

Well PS2 was a cheap DVD player and that was a big deal back then. Alos at E3 they showed CGI and said it was what PS2 graphics so everyone was going nuts to buy one.

When you mention the features, it sounds as if you are saying that only Sony had DVD playback? the Xbox owners did not need to buy a stand alone player, they had to buy the DVD playback kit. its pretty much just a remote and sensor for the Xbox. This is far from paying another $300 on a player. It might be worth mentioning that the Dreamcast had VCD playback. it was less popular outside of Japan though. Then you say that the Xbox is more for the spec people. I have no idea why you claim that the PS2 was more powerful? the Xbox is the most powerful console in the 6th gen. the 2nd most powerful is actually the Gamecube, then the PS2 fallowed by the Dreamcast. the Gamecube did have add on features that at least deserve a mention. the add on modem/BBA was only for the hardcore Gamecube owners, but the GBA player was very much loved by anyone who owned it. As much as I love the Dreamcast I can not seam to understand why you would mention the Gamecubes disc storage limitations and not the DCs? The cube held nearly 50% more per disc. another huge feature that the Dreamcast has is the native VGA output. This video is good, it just seems like it lacks objectivity. This is my favorite console generation. They are all good. it all depends on what you are looking for. I myself have them all and feel that anyone could find something to like about all of them as well.

I always thought this generation was the most diverse. Each console had its own unique graphics and genres were tendered for specific gamers. For instance, enthusiastic gamers always went for xbox, gamecube had gamers who were new to gaming, and dreamcast had arcade gamers or pro gamers. The Ps2 had casual gamers. Realistically in the Graphics department, dreamcast beat gamecube in effects (bumpmapping, vga), xbox beat ps2 in effects as well. The polygon count was something like dc>gc>ps2>xbox.

This genre excelled mostly in its unique AAA titles. For instance I always thought no competitor could ever mimick shenmue for Dreamcast, star wars rogue squadron for GameCube, halo for Xbox or Metal gear solid 2 for PS2 due to the unique skills of the devs and hardware.

The whole reason the dream cast didn't do good is because they announced it was The last console That's why I didn't get it Back then when I was A kid, it was because everyone knew they weren't making another one. And everyone knew they probably weren't going to pay that much attention to upgrade New controllers with 2 thumbsticks We knew it wasn't going nowhere. That's why it failed not because of the PS2 sure that helped, but they stabbed themselves in the foot by announcing it was their last console before the PlayStation 2 was even out.

The Xbox is my all time favorite console. I didn't start out that way. I did not like the Xbox when I first came out. I was a PlayStation 2 owner. I was all about the PS2. Until I had a chance to buy one really cheap and I did brought home and fell in love instantly. I had the same games I had. For PlayStation and they played so much better. So much smoother, better animation. Better graphics. I don't think I bought another game for my PlayStation. Two after they made pretty much the same games for xbox. Unless exclusives came out for the PlayStation or the Xbox. That's the only time I would buy PlayStation 2 games after I got the Xbox if it came out for both systems.

Great video but the PS2 definitely wasn't more powerful then the Xbox, as a matter of fact if you look at specs on all the systems, the GameCube was slightly more powerful then the PS2. Again it does show you that big specs aren't the most important factor in console popularity, the games do. And that's why PS2 destroyed every rival in that generation.

I think Microsoft fast abandoned Xbox classic,2001 to 2005, maybe have more sales console. Xbox classic is great, but ms abandoned xbox classic when come x360. Sony still supported ps2 even is come ps3. My favorite is Dreamcast, because have 4 controller port when come, and have a bunch games in 4 players, even if life of dc was short

Back in the day people bought ps2's just to play DVDs. Gaming was second... 😂 But i really dont think the ps2 was more powerful than the xbox. It may have been a little more powerful than the Dreamcast but not the Xbox... And the vmu was more like a tamagotchi

Sega had a chance to get ahead of the curve by making the Dreamcast play DvD’s which had already been around since 1996 in Japan, when the console released in 99.

Sega Dreamcast was "powered by Windows CE" --- "people didn't really use it" ---- that's the thing, several, but not all of the games ran on an OS backbone of windows CE, that's what it means. Not every game did, but that's the thing. It was designed to run Windows CE, and even if the games that ran it didn't show it to the gamers / users, it was there. so IF you played a game that was running on windows CE, you were using it, even if you didn't know.

Dream cast isn't the same gen

Sony straight-up lied about the power of the PS2 in the run up to release. Yes, it threw around a few more polygons per second but nowhere near the 24 Million they initially claimed - a fact that Sony admitted towards the end of the life of the thing.

In reality, it threw around a couple of million more than the Dreamcast but the resolution was less than the Dreamcast and it couldn't anti-ailise at all, meaning that games looked jagged and had a tonne of ghosting compared to Sega's console. Lighting, also, was easier to code on the Dreamcast.

But the killer, as mentioned here, was that the PS2 came with a DVD player. And that was a HUGE deal.
