Cold Waters: Dot Mod || 2000 Seawolf Campaign || Ep.5 - Seawolf OP?

I am now @ Ep5 and have been persuaded to buy this game, it looks rad. I like sub sims but the old WWII sub sims are done to death so this should renew my interest. So I also need this DOT mod?

I gotta say, I'm loving your videos. I had no idea this game existed until I found your channel.

I served as an officer aboard a 688i for several years, and deployed both to the Middle-east and Western Pacific. I was the Sonar Officer as a very junior unqualified NUB, but spent most of my qualifying time as the Damage Control Officer. A very brief stint at the end of my first tour gave me some time as the assistant head of the weapons department (AWEPS). In that position I was responsible for Torpedo, Sonar, and Fire Control divisions, as well as acting as the TLAM strike officer, ship's security force supervisor, and weapons handling safety officer (Torps, TLAMs, etc.).

I played a sh*t ton of "688i Hunter Killer" back in the day. I now own a copy of Cold Waters, and am looking forward to trying it out. Hopefully it will scratch the realistic mil-sim itch. I just wish this game had multiplayer as an option. Matching wits with another submarine captain is a thrilling chess match.

I've played seawolf 2000 twice, first time I destroyed everything with no damage to me, second time, almost immediately. four air drop torpedo's in close proximity, 2 on the bow and 2 on the stern caused me 2 hours if knuckles and decoys I was able to beat all four only to have another three dropped directly on top of me. gamer over. If the PLA is as good as AI then we are doomed.

Need some repairs

No need to waste a MOSS on that one torpedo. It was 8k yards away and circling. When they drop, give it a moment to see if it is circling. If so, ignore it. Also, no need for the torpedo to go active on the Romeo. It would have homed in on passive, and died before it even had a chance to fire a torp in response. I agree, the Seawolf can be OP, particularly if the enemy doesn't have any towed sonars. The only time I've gotten into trouble is when I was closing on a surface group and they had a diesel sub creeping out front that I couldn't hear. I fired on the ships from about 15k yards, and got return fire from the sub that was only 8k yards away. That was an unpleasant surprise, given it was a Kilo, and they have nasty torpedos

Tell the crew to hold their breath until the torpedo impacts. Once flooding begins, have them all exhale for positive pressure.

This is just too easy I want to see an Alpha campaign, just a suuuper different submarine to play as, its the most fun IMO.

Every time you deploy the towed array it gives me flashbacks to the "toad array" pictures some of us had on our cube walls when I worked on a submarine program a long, long time ago.

Do NPC ships have different 'skill' level of captains? It seems sometimes they just derp out and don't do anything logical, while other times they're hyper-aggressive and excellent at detecting you while you're evasive.
