Key codes are usually a letter or 2 letters followed by some digits. send the code to Justin and he is the cheapest route. Easy, Cheap and 95% or better accurate. He has never cut a profile off for me ever. Done several with him. Cheaper then the guys at the shows.

The wafers are called tumblers. If you have one that sticks out just a little, pull tumbler out from lock cylinder and use a piece of emery cloth and sand it down just enough to make it even with the cylinder. With key removed it should still work properly.
Typically the tumblers have numbers on them. As you remove them, write the number in the order they are in the cylinder. When you reassemble them in cylinder, clean out the cylinder and tumblers with brake cleaner and use dry lube/graphite not grease. Dust and pocket fuzz will stick to the grease causing tumblers to stick. Be careful not to loose the tiny springs.
Good video Mike. Very informative. 👍👍👍

I actually got two used door handles and was looking at them today to re key them. You are psychic. 🙀🙀🙀🙀

This is great. If only I still had my keys. My late 1979 VW T2 has been out of commission for years due to this.

Does he do anything for all around key needs? Like the ignition, doors (front, slide-door, and rear trunk cab), engine compartment locks if I sent them into him?

I switched around the wafers in my earlier Type 3 door locks. Bought another set of locks for donor wafers. My ignition key now work with my door locks. I like to tinker, so I saved my self money and learned something new.

that was super helpful. I was given a 1990 brazilian kombi bus, with no ignition key. It is essentially hot wired.

Or you can do what I do and you just remove all the keys keepers so any key that's Volkswagen will open it you can also do this with other vehicles so if the ignition works you just pull all the keepers out of the doors and now the key will open it of course any Chevy key will then open it but no one knows that so who cares especially if you're flipping vehicles keeps cost down
