I would not recommend this as most users who are in need of performance are on laptops for example, disabling hardware acceleraion yes decreases your GPU use but also increases your CPU significantly, and prevents you from streaming in vc smoothly or watching streams as well without issues, most systems are CPU limited especially laptops or older PCs so this will be hurting your user experience and your performance in alot of cases as well.

I disabled hardware acceleration long ago but discord still drops 10-20% fps depending on the game. It's clearly changing my fps as I close or open it I verified it many times with different FPS counters

Needs an update for 2022, it's now located in User Settings > Advanced (under the App Settings grouping)

I did all but I’m still getting frame drops like from 400 fps to 9 fps. Does anyone have the same issue? Also I’m using better discord but I tried uninstalling it and the problems still here so it’s not the culprit.

Idk what issue I'm having but turning off hardware acc. didn't help. For some reason, Discord works perfectly fine if I open it BEFORE I open any other app or video game. If i open a game FIRST, then Discord, it will always cause extreme fps drops, and eventually crash the game.

I have no idea why it does this, and I have tried messing with all settings. It makes no sense that when opened first, it causes no issues at all.

Minuses:

2) different types of characters can be caught in the discord (criminals, hackers, rich characters, humorists and characters who don't care about everything and the technical support of the discord itself), as well as young people who are not quite adequate .;
3) the attendants of the discord itself who follow the discord itself do not follow their own rules from the word at all. (Technical support and everyone who is associated with the discord).
4) in discord, only "selected" characters can scold someone, swear at someone, and so on. Otherwise, they will mix the whole discord with shit in the literal sense of the word.

Nice, my biggest issue with Discord has always been that its a huge pain to nearly every PC thats not totally high-end with RTX and ryzen 5 and you showed how to fix it.
Also dont forget to turn off the Overlay since it also causes huge latencies.

Now Discord only needs to fix its crappy voice to make it as good as TeamSpeak and then its really overall better than TS. For now it will mostly stay for organizing stuff until they are capable of implementing a real voice activation thats not recording every bee summing around your room no matter what settings you put on and since putting on a manual setting is way worse than everything i ever imagined to be possible thats the only option. I wonder how MSN could get way better voice back then than such a huge company lol.

It doesn't matter whether I disable or enable hardware acceleration. Discord still keeps causing FPS lag in games. I've streamed Fallout 3 and New Vegas in some servers. I've tried installing mods that supposedly increase performance. I've tried lowering my graphics settings. Discord still keeps sucking up my CPU no matter what I do. Doesn't matter how many people are watching. Even ONE person watching/voice chatting with me kills my framerate.

If this doesn't help, try also disabling Discord Overlay in game

In the latest build, the hardware acceleration option has been moved to the Advanced Section (which is a separate section now)

in case some peoples are wondering, that option is now in advanced instead of appearance!!

I will do everything in the video to see if it helps, when on discord but not on a call I get 113 fps on tomb raider 97% usage but the moment I get into a call my frames go down to 85 and my gpu usage holds at around 85 and jumps down to 50 and buck up to 80ish never touches the 90s

i dont know why but when i play apex legends its completly the other way around. i get more fps with it on than with out. which is weird... my game seems to run worse when i dont have it on. any help?
