I remember there use to be a maid restaurant in singapore which i enjoyed, although it did not provide any show - just waitresses in maid uniforms. Food was rather good, but its gone now. The maid cafe's in Tokyo are more an entertainment thing rather than for food.

If you have been to Japan you would not think that this is pervy at all or obscene, the maid outfit is just a costume. If you go to a Pokémon cafe you don't expect Pikachu or any pokemon for that matter to be pervy.

Visited that same cafe about the same time this was shot. Was great fun.

The truth is that most of those girls hate being there, they hate the goofy skits and dances, and they probably hate serving you, but they gotta find some appeal to make the money. You can easily tell that by their awkward and unconvincing attempt at it; it's extremely fake and halfhearted attempt that it almost feels insulting to be a part of. Guys and maybe some girls trying to live their sexual fantasies by making it appear it's about service and food, but it's only because it's in a public place in front of so many eyes. It's overall an cringeworthy thing and of course, Japan is part of it.
